I can’t wait for the Big Game this Sunday! It’s fun to invite friends over for a game time party, although in all honesty, I could do without the football and just watch the commercials and half time show.  One year when Bryan had to work, I did this. I invited my girlfriends and their kids over. We chatted and snacked during the game and rated the commercials and half time show while the kids played video games in another room. Everyone declared it “the best football party ever.” The one thing we always have, no matter what type of football party we enjoy, is plenty of snacks. I load the table with Hot Wings, a cheese ball, chips, veggies, cookies, whatever I am in the mood to make.   This year, while browsing through the Fresh Wings in the Walmart Deli, I decided to save time and pick up a pound of prepared wings.

When I arrived home and started thinking of all the snacks I planned to make, a light bulb went off in my head. Why not kill two birds with one stone and use some of my General Tso’s Wings in my cheese ball? The test recipe was a huge hit with the kids who each gave it a “two thumbs up.”  The recipe might look a little complicated to make, but I can assure you it is not. I am all about simple recipes. Here’s what you need to make it:
General Tsos Cheeseball

I took a basic cheese ball recipe that had been passed down from my mom, who found it in a cookbook when I was a kid, and added the wings and some fresh parsley for a flavor boost. I molded mine into a football shape to add some extra “oomph.” It was easy to do by hand, just shape it into an oval, but it would be easier to use a football mold if one was available.

While I was preparing the cheese ball, the kids asked me not to use all the Hot Wings in my recipe, as they wanted to serve some of them as an appetizer during dinner. I have to say, I love it when my dinners come together quickly and easily.

This recipe is easily adaptable too. Don’t like blue cheese? Substitute another type!  I do suggest a stronger flavored cheese. Don’t like pecans? Leave them off! Not a parsley fan? Substitute chives.  I think this would also be good substituting the buffalo boneless wings.
