I’ve shared recently about all the illness in my family. The past two months have been spent in a variety of hospitals. This, along with all my other responsibilities, has left me little time to cook. We’ve eaten out more times than I care to mention. Not only does it hurt our wallet, after a while I crave home cooking. Recently, when I was making another(!) quick trip to Walmart to pick up snacks, I saw the new Marie Callendar’s pies in the freezer section. I’ve been a fan of the mini pot pies whenever I need comfort food, so I snatched up the family sized Marie Callendar’s pot pies and headed home to try it out. While the pot pie was in the oven baking, I whipped up a simple dessert– 3 ingredient Chocolate French Silk Pie. This is my kind of dinner; easy, with minimal preparation time.
This creamy, silky rich pie comes together in around five minutes, looks like you fussed, and can be chilled while the pot pie is baking I dressed mine up with some whipped cream and caramel syrup, but it could be garnished with chocolate shavings, chocolate syrup, you name it. It’s also delicious without any toppings!
Here’s all you need to make it (Seriously!):
The directions are equally as simple! Just chop up three regular sized milk chocolate bars and melt them in the microwave. I usually microwave one minute, stir, and then microwave 30 more seconds. Fold the melted chocolate into eight ounces of thawed frozen whipped topping. Stir until well blended. Pour the chocolate mixture into a graham cracker pie crust. (To make the pie gluten free, simply switch out the regular graham cracker crust with a gluten free graham cracker crust.) One quick cooking hint: I usually pop the frozen whipped topping in the microwave for 30 seconds to soften it.
Since Marie Callendar’s tastes like homemade with its’ flaky, golden crust, homemade gravy mixed with vegetables and all white-meat chicken, no one in the family has to know I bought it unless I tell them. (Or if they find the box in the recycling bin.) Paired with my pie, they think I spent the afternoon cooking. Much cheaper than eating out and tastes like home cooking; it’s a can’t miss combo.
What are your favorite easy meals when you are in a hurry?
That pie looks like the perfect dessert to go with pot pie!! I’ve never made one, but love how simple it is! #client
That pie looks delicious. I love that it is only 3 ingredients so it’s perfect for a busy weeknight!
We love these chicken pot pies – they are SO easy to make on a busy night and they do taste homemade. I’m going to have to try out that pie recipe – I have a boatload of holiday gatherings coming up where I need to bring a dessert and this sounds perfect!
Pot Pie is a serious staple here in our home. We eat a lot of it while the winter months are roaring in — and your French Silk Pie looks amazing!! SO delicious!
I love how you drizzled caramel topping over it. I must have this!!!!
Silk pie is so tasty!!! I am a huge fan of quick and delicious meals and desserts like this!
I love silk pies. They are probably my favorite dessert!
This looks so very simple to make. But I am sure it is delicious, I am a sucker for french silk pies!
One of my husband’s favorite recipes that I make is a chocolate candy pie, but I reserve it just for Easter. Partially because you have to unwrap a ton of candy & it gets annoying. This looks so easy that I could make it for our Sunday dinners.
I pinned the recipe! I must try the pie ! 🙂 Thank you!
My youngest son is crazy about pot pies and chocolate, so this is a combination that would be sure to please! Love that the pie is so easy to whip up!
