Can you believe it is almost November already? Where did the year go? It seems I was just enjoying the summer sunshine and now it’s cold, damp and rainy outside, a typical fall and winter in Georgia. These are the days I want to curl up next to the heater, sip hot cocoa and spend an evening watching a movie or television show on Netflix. With the hustle and bustle of the holidays about to descend on us, it’s nice to be able to spend an evening with family, relaxing. We’ve watched a lot of movies over the years so I decided to compile a list of five movies our family loves that you might have missed.
1. Robin Hood. No, not the version with Kevin Costner. This is the Disney version with the entire cast portrayed by animals. Robin Hood and Maid Marion are foxes, Prince John is a lion, and the Sheriff of Nottingham is a bear. As per all Disney movies, this one has catchy tunes. a funny story line and a happy ending.
2. The Aristocats. The story of kidnapped cats, this move has everything; cats, romance, adventure. Did I mention cats? Will O’Malley the alley cat be able to help them make it home and be reunited with their owner? Will Duchess, the sophistocat, and O’ Malley fall in love?
3. Who Framed Roger Rabbit? Kids and parents will appreciate this movie. With the animation for the kids and the clever double entendre for the adults, this one is a classic. Plus, my kids always enjoy laughing at the graphics and how much they have improved over the years.
4. Escape to Witch Mountain. Two children learn they have magical powers and the hunt is on to stop them from escaping earth. It’s another throwback to dated graphics, but the plot is still exciting after all these years.
5. The Many Adventures of Winnie-the-Pooh. Who doesn’t love Pooh? This was a favorite of mine as a child and a favorite of my children as well. I can’t wait until the baby arrives so I have an excuse to sing constant Pooh songs.
