I am a member of the #CapriSunCrew and have been compensated for my participation. We are long time consumers of Capri Sun and all opinions are my own.
We’ve all been there. We want to have a fun filled 4th of July, allowing the kids to play and the adults a chance to sit around, chat and catch up. I’ve spent plenty of time over the years fixing plates for the kids, fixing drinks for the kids, fixing more drinks for the kids, and settling arguments. Here’s some tips I’ve learned to allow everyone to enjoy themselves.
1. Set the mood. It’s always fun to have decorations for the party, but they can be expensive. Instead of purchasing specialty holiday items, visit thrift stores and find mix and match dinnerware and table linens. I paired different colored dishes in red and white with blue placemats. I stopped by the dollar store and picked up cheap streamers to hang from the table. Bonus: The kids can wave them in the air after dark instead of fireworks.
2. Make a Kid’s Play Station. The key here is to have simple toys and enough for everyone. I added bubbles and a ring toss game to our station, but you could include jump ropes, a baseball, bat and gloves, whatever your preference. Don’t be surprised if the adults decide to join in the fun!
3. Set up a Serve Yourself Drink Station. I place Capri Sun Juice Drinks in a small metal tray filled with ice. The kids can grab one as needed and don’t have to ask parents to get up and fix them a drink. I keep a small trash bag beside the drink station for easy cleanup. (Remember you can recycle your drink packages through Terra Cycle and help schools.) The same idea works great for adults. I set out a large washtub filled with ice and add drinks for easy access.
4. Make a Paint A Memory Board. My kids love to paint so I place a small piece of plywood against a tree, along with washable paint and paint brushes. The kids can paint their own memories of the day on the board. These are fun to look at as the years pass to see how the kids have changed.
5. Make patriotic ice cubes. My daughter has severe food allergies and I like for her to be able to have a treat along with everyone else. Instead of serving the traditional ice cream, I made ice cubes in a patriotic gelatin mold, using Capri Sun. Each pouch filled one gelatin mold. You can imagine the surprised looks on the kids’ faces when they realize the “regular” ice cube is really frozen Capri Sun. If you like, add a popsicle stick to each mold to make clean up easier.

This is a great idea, I’m going to see if I can throw something together before this weekend. Love this.
My favorite is Mountain Cooler.
These are great tips. Our fourth of July is always kid friendly since it is also my nieces birthday.
I don’t know why everyone goes all gung ho for fireworks and alcohol on the 4th of July myself. I can remember being scared to death of fireworks when I was young and, of course, I couldn’t have alcohol, so it seems that the kids are forgotten sometimes. I really like your idea to entertain the kids on the 4th!
My husbands family is the “go big or go home” when it comes to the 4th. His cousin has a giant pond and lots of acres. So, everyone heads over there and camps for the weekend. The kids do plays, they have a ton of games, they have an all ages talent show, and every year they have girls vs boys water wars. It’s quite the production.
We will be attending a kids fourth party on the 3rd. Great ideas for kid fun!
The DIY play station and drink station are great ideas!! I love it…keep them busy!
I’m still working out our plans for the 4th of July. I love these ideas. Making drink stations or ways for guests to grab things as they need on their way to continue the fun make it so simple.
Those look like fun ideas. All of the activities really make the holiday special for me.
A play station & a drink station is all I need for a kid’s party. But definitely drinks 😛
