Each year I try to show my children how blessed they are during the holiday season by helping someone else in need. This year our choice was easy. One of our friends’ had suffered through several financial setbacks this year and couldn’t afford to provide Christmas for their daughter. We decided she needed to be treated like a princess, but what type of princess? Why, a Disney one of course! We purchased a Cinderella Transforming Carriage and a Magiclip Castle for her from Walmart. I wanted to add some extra supplies she could use. I decided to try creative wrapping.
. I wandered around the store inspecting different items and finally decided on a Disney Princess Sheet set. I would wrap the carriage and castle in the sheets and use the pillowcases to hold extra goodies.
Using the flat sheet to wrap the castle was no problem. I was able to use tape to hold the sheet in place. It was trickier using the fitted sheet to wrap the carriage. I had to fold the ends several times to make the sides look neat. The end result was still a little “poofy.”
The Sheet Made an Excellent Wrapping Paper |
I purchased a bottle of Disney Princesses bubble bath and a tube of Disney Princesses lip gloss for stocking stuffers. With the first pillowcase I folded it over three times and tied it around the bubble bath. I finished by fluffing the edges out to look like a bow.
This was trickier to attach to the present than I had thought. I finally used packing tape applied to the back of the bottle and a couple of pieces across the front of the bottle. It worked and I was pleased with the result.
Since I needed a pocket to hold the lip gloss I merely folded the second pillowcase down to pocket size, added the lip gloss and taped the sides together with packing tape. I finished by attaching the pocket to the sheet.
Now came the fun part, sneaking the packages to our friends’ house. We planned around their work schedule to drop off the packages while they were not at home. We scurried to their porch and left the packages, hoping no neighbors saw us and called the police. While I would have loved to see the look on the little princess’ face when she opened the presents, it felt good being a secret Santa and knowing she would have a happy Christmas after all.

Ah! I take a short lunchbreak from the blogging cosmos and come back to find that you have a ton of followers?! Wow, times have changed! Keep up the far out work!
What a neat idea! I would have never thought of it 🙂
So clever – and the sheets are such a practical idea!
I like that idea with wrapping in sheets. I think I will try it with some of my grandchildren’s gifts.
Super clever use of the pillow cases there, love it! No doubt, this little girl is going to enjoy these gifts!
How creative! Great way to avoid wasting extra paper, too.
What a cute idea! I had never thought of a pillow case to wrap with but this would be perfect. My little guy is tearing all the wrapping paper in my home up but he wouldn’t be able to get through that!
Ohhh I love this; what great ideas.. using a pillow case to wrap.. LOVE IT!! What a blessing and I bet this little girl LOVED it… You are such an amazing person.. thanks for sharing this. I loved reading it.

Fantastic idea! I was thinking of something similar for my Princess obsessed nieces.
How nice of you and what a Blessing you were to that little girl! You’re awesome! The gift looked so nice too. Gave me goosebumps reading this just visualizing just what this little Princess thought when she saw gifts just for her. Merry Christmas and it’s so wonderful knowing there are such special, caring, people in this world like you!
