The weekend is finally here and it’s my time to relax and enjoy loads of down time. If that sentence made you laugh as much as it did me, you probably have a full weekend. So. Many. Errands. Between frantically trying to clean the house, rush around town to pick up all the supplies I need for the next week and try to spend quality time with my family, something has to give. Naturally, I decided to tackle this problem and find simple solutions to make my life easier, because a happy mama means a happy household. Here’s three tips I’ve found to make cleaning easier and faster during the week so I can have clean free weekends.
1. Involve the kids. Make clean up a game. I know this sounds impossible to convince the kids that cleaning can be a game, but I have a “secret” trick– a timer. Set the timer for fifteen minutes and challenge everyone to see how much they can pick up and return to it’s rightful place. The kids burn energy, a lot of stuff gets put back where it belongs and I have less clean up. By doing this a few times a week, I have less deep cleaning to do. The downside–make sure the kids don’t toss everything in the closet to finish first.
2. Clean each day. I am not sure how my house can become messy overnight. Perhaps the cats have a party during the night? Whatever the reason, I spend time each morning doing some basic chores, like a quick sweep around the house, vacuuming the family room rug, and quick wipe downs in the bathroom. I also replace missing supplies. I’m not sure how I am the only person who can notice there is no toilet paper left on the roll or all the paper towels are gone. Doing my quick clean ups each day make it easier to do my once a week deep cleaning.
3. Use multipurpose cleaning products. I’ve been using the new Mr. Clean Liquid Muscle multisurface cleaner with 2.5 times the clean in each drop. I can apply it directly to tough stains, like my stove top, another mystery of how it can be so dirty so quickly, or dilute it in water for general cleaning or floor cleaning. Plus, I don’t have to rinse it when I’m done. Did I mention how much I like products that save me time? It smells good too. There are four varieties, Crisp Lemon, Gain Scent Original, Febreeze Freshness Meadows and Rain and Mr. Clean Liquid Muscle with the grease fighting power of Dawn, including special formulas for the kitchen and bathroom. After I use it the entire house smells fresh, which is a bonus if unexpected company drops in for a visit.

I love the Mr Clean Magic Eraser. When my daughter was little she took her crayons to our walls and the Magic Eraser was the ONLY product that worked in removing all of it, without removing the paint. They have been my favorite ever since and she is almost 16 now!

I think the best tips I can think of to make cleaning easier are to do a little at a time, everyday, to keep it clean. Keeping something clean is far better than cleaning up a big mess.

I live with three boys and four animals, we do not have clean free weekends but do have minimal cleaning. I love Mr. Clean for that! He gets us more time outdoors creating dirty laundry!

I like the Liquid Muscle Bath, it is always good to have products to help me clean the tub, that is one of my most difficult tasks.
The multi surface liquid cleaner with Febreeze freshness is what I am currently using. I love, love, love the scent and am always pleased with how well it works!!
I think getting the kids involved is a great idea. My kids are both at ages where they actually LIKE to help, so why not take advantage of it, right?
