For my family, the holidays are all about desserts. From pies and cakes to Christmas cookies, November and December are great months for our sweet teeth. Since being diagnosed with celiac, I’ve had to stop indulging in a lot of the sweets of the season. Whenever we get a gift basket full of homemade cookies, I just sigh. When I was visiting my mom the other day, there was a gift basket of cookies and other sweets. I was prepared to ignore it when my mom told me it was for me.
Tate’s Bake Shop was founded by Kathleen King and offers gift baskets of baked goods for anyone and any occasion- including a wide gluten free collection for celiacs like me! My gift basket included several types of cookies, a brownie, a blondie, and peppermint bark.
Unlike many gluten-free foods, these were enjoyed by the whole family. Although we’re not crispy cookie fans- and that’s a personal preference- these crispy cookies were delicious. Softened in milk, the chocolate chip cookies tasted just like my great-aunt used to make. The brownie was soft and fudgey, and the blondie was out of this world good. Plus, the peppermint bark was both delicious AND festive. My husband kept asking for bites of my brownie, and my mom was a fan of the peppermint bark. The ginger zinger cookies had a strong ginger flavor, which was a lot different than most ginger cookies I’ve had.
If you’re looking for a gift for a celiac, Tate’s Bake Shop offers a variety of gift baskets with gluten free options. There are even some with savory and salty foods! If you’re attached to a certain food from one of the gift baskets (like me and the blondie, which I’ve raved about to everyone who will listen), you can also buy packs of individual items. Not a celiac? Not to worry! There are plenty of wheat-filled options available too. Tate’s Bake Shop seems to offer something for everyone. Check out their pies for holiday get-togethers, or send a gift of raspberry squares. If purchased goods aren’t your style but you still want to try out Tate’s delicious baked goods, they even offer a cookbook.
If you’re needing a gift idea this holiday season and know someone with a sweet tooth, be sure to check out Tate’s Bake Shop.
Thank you so very much.
