“I’m not touching you!” I think this was one of my kid’s favorite games to play on road trips when they were younger. Not only did it drive me up the wall, but I also spent all of my driving time playing referee. If that sounds like your family vacation, I have a solution I found for my kids. Road trip games! I began making printables before we left home that would keep the kids occupied for at least 10 to 15 minutes along the way. Those moments of peace and quiet as I was driving (especially in heavy traffic) were what I lived for!
I designed this free Find that Sign Road Trip printable that siblings can play either together or on their own. I used common road signs that were easily recognizable and easy to find so even the younger kids can join in the fun. There’s no reading involved so preschoolers can use the game too, although they may need a little help from a sibling.

I’ve made a PDF copy available to anyone who would like to print the game. Here’s how to get your own copy:
1. Go to this link. (It’s saved in Google drive.)
2. Click “print” or “download” in the upper right-hand corner. The pdf will download. I made the printable in an 8.5″ by 11″ size so, when printed, it should fit a regular sheet of paper.
3. Enjoy the peace and quiet!
Other Ideas for the Find the Sign Printable:
Print out a few copies and use them for some fun road trip games!
- I Spy- Choose one sign from the list. Ask the kids to see how many of that sign they can spot within a certain amount of time. (I like to try one to two minutes.)
- Make it an I Spy competition. Choose 1 sign for each child. Have them count how many of the signs they spot in 1 to 2 minutes.
- Find that (Additional) Sign! Have the kids find additional signs that aren’t on the printable.
- Use the printable to play “Road Trip Bingo.” Who can spot the signs either in a vertical, horizontal, or diagonal row?
- What does that sign mean? When the kids find a sign let them tell you what the sign means. It’s good practice for that driver’s license test years in the future!
- Quiet Mouse – (One of my personal favorites when the kids have asked “Are we there yet?” for the hundredth time. Choose one sign from the list (usually a common one like a stop sign or speed limit sign.) Who can be quiet until we find the next (whatever) sign?
I hope this printable helps make your next road trip a little more fun. And, if it’s a little quieter, that’s always a plus too. What is your favorite game to play with the kids on road trips?

My parents almost bought a mini van so my brother and I could have our own car rows. I was in high school which was so crazy that we’d even fight at that age. They didn’t do it (I didn’t think it was necessary) but I understand the need for some alternate games to keep kids from fighting. Haha!
