Going away to college can be an amazing experience. There’s a sense of exhilaration at the first taste of freedom, finding the world is so much bigger than you’d imagined. It can also be a source of stress. Late night cram sessions, no sleep and the fast paced college life can equal a less than healthy lifestyle. This year, as my son returns to college five hours away, I decided to create a Healthy Lifestyle and Wellness Gift Basket.
How to Make A Healthy Lifestyle and Wellness Gift Basket
I wanted my gift to be practical and useful so I began by purchasing a shower and bath caddy to hold the items. This provides easy storage and can be carried anywhere. I included the following supplies because I knew these would be of the most use to my son, but feel free to adapt to your child’s needs. Sure, they can go to the college health clinic, but many times they are not open when supplies are needed. It’s best to have supplies on hand “just in case.”
*Bandages— Even if your child is not accident prone like mine, these are good to have for the minor scrapes and cuts.
*Antibiotic Cream—To keep all the minor scrapes and cuts from becoming infected
*All Natural Sunburn Relief Gel—Tailgating in the fall, intermural sports and outdoor spring activities can all lead to sunburn.
*Hand Sanitizer– Let’s face it. Colleges can be a hot bed for germs. I remember my daughter’s experience when her entire dorm was quarantined due to the flu. Hand sanitizer is a staple!
*Pain Relief Medication—For all the headaches from late night cramming or for muscle aches from intermural sports.
*Anti-Itch Cream—This is helpful when you attend college in the land of large mosquitoes or other pesky biting insects!
*Sundown Naturals® Vitamins – to help maintain a healthy lifestyle! I chose the new adult gummy vitamins found at Walmart (because they’re so much more fun!) in the following:
**B12—For energy support because students need all the support they can get! They help your body convert the food you need into cellular energy and they come in fun flavors of mixed berry, orange and raspberry.
**Cranberry—Comes in Cran-Raspberry Flavor and supports healthy urinary tract function.
**Vitamin D3—Comes in Strawberry, Orange and Lemon flavor and supports Bone, Teeth and Immune health.
Plus, the Sundown Naturals® Adult Vitamins are gluten free, dairy free and free of artificial flavors◊. Not sure what vitamins your college student needs? They have all sorts of vitamins, including vitamins for hair and vitamins for skin. You can take this test to find out which vitamins might be right for you!

I have a really bad cold and could use that basket of wellness right about now! 🙁
This is an awesome idea for a gift basket. Who doesn’t want the gift of health? Those gummie vitamins look great too.
What a great idea. I always get stuck in the rut of not so good for you stuff when I am putting together a gift basket. These are some great picks for a healthy lifestyle.
This is a great fit for someone under the weather. Shoot I need this as my go to kit for the winter weather and the germs it brings.
This such a wonderful idea! I love to make little goody baskets, and I would love to receive something like this as well.
This is a great idea! I always try to give gift baskets to young people heading out on their own. I try to think of things that would help the the most. What could be better than helping them maintain wellness. Thanks for sharing!
This is such a great idea, especially with school just starting and the winter months looming ahead!
I love this! I would be thrilled if a friend or family member gave this to me for a gift!
What a great gift basket. I am so guilty of not taking my vitamins!
I’m horrible about sticking to a vitamin regimen. I have the 7 day dispenser thing that I always forget. At least your idea eliminates excuses.
This looks like a great gift basket as we are headed into a sick season!! Great idea!!
Wow, this is a nice idea. I bet this is a great gift for my grandma and to my in-laws too!
What a great idea. I know I’d love to be gifted a basket like this so I’d love to give one too! I like baskets that are creative and different and this one is great!

This is such a great idea.
I have never heard of the idea of making a Wellness basket, but I think this would be great for those who have been sick or for people who are trying to start a healthy lifestyle.
This is a great gift idea. Once school starts everyone seems to be getting sick.
I love this idea! Everyone could use a wellness basket! I love the shower caddy as the basket.
What a great idea for a gift basket. It would be perfect to send to a college student away from home or even an older relative.
This is such a good idea. I know a few people that would love to get one of these.
This is such a cute basket idea. I know a few people who would love to get this basket.
What a thoughtful idea. This would be perfect for a care basket for someone in college or the military, I think.
This is a great idea! It’s a good way to give maybe your college kid a care package that will help them get through the year.
Love this! I currently take B-12 to control my Iron blood counts. Who knew that being B-12 deficient can lower your Iron levels?? I may have to start taking D3 for bone and teeth health! Great post 🙂
I love that you used a shower caddy to hold these awesome wellness gifts. You’ve included everything a college kid needs. Great gift basket!
I needed this! My college daughter could use this! Glad I have a quick reference to all the things I should include in it. I’m going to get some B-12 and Vitamin C for myself too!
I think this is an incredibly thoughtful gift. So often, we don’t know how to help our friends who are sick or who are prone to sickness. Something like this tells them we’re concerned and want to help without hovering or making them feel like invalids.
This is a great gift idea for anyone who has trouble with sickness. Whether it’s allergies or a chronic condition, a gift like this says, “I love you, and I want you to stay healthy!”
