Do you remember Goo-Goo clusters candy? I have fond memories of them from my childhood. Those gooey chocolate, peanut, marshmallow concoctions melted in my mouth. After I was married and began to take the kids to Jekyll Island each year for vacation, we discovered a candy factory in Eastman, Georgia that made Goo-Goo clusters. We stopped on our yearly trip to the beach and purchased a freshly made Goo-Goo cluster for each of us. It was our once a year Goo-Goo cluster treat. Sadly, the candy factory closed. I hadn’t had a Goo-Goo cluster in ages until a friend gave me this recipe. I omitted the caramel that is in the recipe, but they’re still delicious. This Copycat Goo-Goo Cluster recipe also make a perfect holiday gift for any chocolate lover.
Copycat Goo-Goo Clusters Recipe
I have taken these to candy swaps and they’ve been a huge hit. I always come home with an empty tray. I also get lots of requests to bring these to holiday parties and potlucks. They are naturally gluten-free so they are good to serve for friends who have Celiac too. Did I mention that they only have four ingredients and can be made in around ten minutes? Here’s an IMPORTANT TIP: Follow the directions exactly. If you do not, the candy will scorch. No one wants that.
Here’s what you need to make it
1 package (12 ounces) milk chocolate chips
1 (14.5 ounces) can sweetened condensed milk
2 cups roasted peanut halves
2 cups mini marshmallows
Here’s how to make it
1. Line a 9″ by 13″ baking dish with waxed paper. Spray the waxed paper with nonstick cooking spray.
2. Spread peanuts and marshmallows evenly over the bottom of the dish.
3. In a microwave-safe bowl, melt milk chocolate chips and sweetened condensed milk for one minute. Stir. If chocolate chips are not completed melted, microwave 30 more seconds and stir. Continue to stir until chips are completely melted.
4. Pour chocolate mixture evenly over peanuts and marshmallows. Place in the freezer until hardened.
5. Remove the waxed paper from the bottom of the candy and slice into pieces.

Cooking Tips:
*This candy will be soft. It is best kept stored in an airtight container and kept in the fridge or freezer until ready to serve. This candy can be made in advance and frozen for up to three months.
*Tip for novice cooks: Sweetened condensed milk and evaporated milk aren’t the same. Although both of these items have 60% of the water content removed, sweetened condensed milk is it contains an added 40 t0 45% sugar. Using the correct milk will make a big difference in taste in your recipes!
