Gifts For the Foodie:

Beer of the Month Club – Are you a craft beer aficionado?  The Beer of the Month Club from Amazing Clubs is for you.  Available in three, six, or twelve-month subscriptions, or in a quarterly subscription, Beer of the Month Club brings you 12 full-sized bottles of hard-to-find and specialty microbrews.  These aren’t just any old beer. Each one is carefully selected by club experts from highly rated, award-winning, regional breweries spread across the country.

Four different beers-three of each flavor- are included in each shipment. Still not sure if this is for you? Amazing Clubs is the only subscription club to guarantee a shipment of major award-winning beers each month. They also offer a “They’ll love it” guarantee which promises if you are unhappy, let them know.  They’ll do everything they can to make you happy. If you’re still not satisfied, you’re able to cancel your membership at any time and for any reason. It’s no surprise they’ve been voted the #1 Beer Club for seven years in a row by the  Wall Street Journal.

Our selection included 3 bottles of Rusty Chain, the #1 best selling beer in Buffalo, and 3 bottles of Bisonfest, their seasonal Oktoberfest beer, from Flying Bison in Buffalo, New York. We also received 3 bottles of  Mountain Livin’ Pale Ale, a unique citrusy ale,  and  Crazy Mountain Amber Ale, a hoppy ale with no bitter taste, from Crazy Mountain Brewing Company in Denver, Colorado.

Beer of the Month Club
Three-month or seasonal subscriptions to Beer of The Month Club are $41.95 per month.

GoodCook® Oven to Table Stoneware – I’ve been a GoodCook® fan since I first discovered the company in 2013.  Seriously. My kitchen is full of their products. I have pie pans, a handy y-shaped peeler, a pizza cutter, and so much more.  And, yes, I have purchased a lot of these pieces myself. Their ceramic rectangle dishes, in 3-quart and 1-quart sizes, are some of the most used dishes in my kitchen. Thanks to the sleek white design, they’re perfect for going straight from the oven to the table.
GoodCook OvenReady Bakeware

I’m thrilled to add two new pieces to my collection, the Oven To Table Covered Baking Dish, and the Oven To Table Square Baking Dish. These pieces are a classic white stoneware, which will match almost any decor. The Covered Baking Dish measures 7.5″ by 7.5″ by 2″, while the Square Baking Dish measures 8″ by 8″ by 2″.  Both of these dishes are microwave, dishwasher, and freezer safe, three qualities I look for whenever I am purchasing bakeware.

The dishes feature unglazed bottoms to help items brown and the ceramic design holds ensures even baking. Because the dishes hold heat well, even after being removed from the oven, dishes with cooking times of less than 30 minutes can be removed a few minutes early as they will continue to cook.
Good Cook OvenReady Bakeware

goodcook® OvenFresh Baking Dishes are available at Walmart. They range in price, depending on size, from around $15 to around $30 dollars.

SimpliciTEA-Tea is a popular gift around our house. Everyone in my family wants the tea experience. Thanks to SimpliciTEA, we can have that every month with their subscription box. The fun thing about this box is that it doesn’t just contain gourmet tea, it’s a total tea experience. We received the October box to the delight of the entire family. The October teas selection was Citrus Cinnamon Spice, a loose-leaf black tea with flavors of orange, cinnamon, and spices. It smelled as good as it tastes and is perfect for sipping in front of a fire. Also included was a 2 in. Sussex Derby Tea Infuser made from stainless steel for creating a cuppa and a package of GWell reishi and chaga tea cookies. With no gluten, dairy, or refined sugar, these cookies- or ‘biscuits’ as my English friends call them- are a tasty way to round off an afternoon tea.

But, the fun doesn’t stop there. This box includes a bar of Pumpkin Patch soap-fragrant with pumpkin and brown sugar scents-from The Copper Factory, Black Tea lip balm from Delight Naturals, and a travel-sized bottle of Pumpkin Apple Hand Sanitizer from Bath & Body Works. Rounding off the box is a Key Holder from Finders Key Purse. (Seriously, everyone needs one of these. It makes finding keys so much easier.) Even the box is cute; it came decorated with small felt leaves. Boxes can be ordered as one-time gifts, or in three, six, twelve, or monthly options. SimpliciTEA has other options as well. They have various tea blends in containers of different sizes, tea accessories, artisan sugars, and honey sticks. Plus, they ship in two days so last-minute gift-giving is a snap.

SimpliciTEA gift boxes can be purchased for a one time fee of $30. Monthly subscriptions vary in price.

Alacran Cristal Tequila -I say cocktails, you say cooking! Although my family and I may disagree on the best uses for alcohol, we all agree that high-quality tequila is the only tequila that will grace our doorstep. Whether you’re shopping for someone with a fully stocked bar cart or someone who only drinks once in a blue moon but loves to use high-end tequila in the guacamole (this is a real thing!),  Alacran Cristal Tequila is the gift you’re looking for this holiday season.

Alacran, Spanish for “scorpion,” was founded in Jalisco, Mexico in 2010. Their Cristal Tequila was released in 2015 and is made from blue Weber agave. This añejo tequila ages for 14 months in barrels originally used for American bourbon, which lends to its full-bodied finish. Once it has aged, the Cristal Tequila undergoes a filtration process that winds up creating a smooth, clear spirit. The flavor profile is described as “sweet and herbal,” with hints of spice and fruit.

Their Resposado Tequilla is an ultra-premium tequila with a smooth finish, perfect for sipping. Matured for four months in oak bourbon barrels and made with 7-to-10-year-old Weber Blue Agave harvested in Los Altos, this rich tequila has notes of caramel, vanilla, and oak. It’s packaged in a clear glass bottle to show off the golden hue. Each bottle is then hand-labeled and numbered. This makes it a versatile tequila, nothing like the stuff you bought that one time to make frozen margaritas.

Alacran Cristal Tequila has an MSRP of around $36 and Alacran Resposado Tequilla has an MSRP of around $50.

Root Out Whisky – You’ve heard of root beer. You’ve heard of hard root beer. But have you heard of root beer flavored whisky? This is a fun twist on a traditional whisky, making it a great gift for an adventurous drinker or anyone who likes to have fun in the kitchen. Root Out is a blend of premium root beer flavoring combined with Canadian Whisky which has been aged for four years in American Oak barrels used for Bourbon production. This results in whisky with a strong root beer flavored and a hint of vanilla. Root Out contains no caramel color.

Root Out is perfect for consuming neat and in custom cocktails. If you find yourself stuck on deciding what to use Root Out Whisky for, their website offers several recipe suggestions like the Hounds of Hades and the Little Death. This would be perfect for serving in cocktails at a 90s throwback party— I can’t be the only one excited at the idea of a grown-up version of the root beer floats I used to drink every summer. Just throw in some rollerblades and a terrible windbreaker and you’ve got a whole party!

TBJ Bacon Jams – -I live in the South where one of the mottos is “everything is better with bacon.” When I first discovered the joy that is bacon jam a few years ago at a gourmet restaurant, I was determined to convince my family to join me in the growing rank of bacon jam lovers. Naturally, when I learned of TBJ Gourmet whose core product is bacon jam and whose purpose is to “create quality foods you did not know you couldn’t live without,” I was intrigued. After all, they have an “Emergency Bacon Kit.” Who doesn’t want that?

With nine bacon jams ranging in flavors from classic to maple bourbon and balsamic fig, these jams are sure to spice up your favorite recipes. After searching through their recipes, and drooling over Hail Piggy Sliders, I want to add their classic jam to my bacon and blue cheese deviled eggs recipe. These eggs always go fast, but I bet this will take them to another level. They also offer 2 salts; Smoked Bacon and Himalayan Ghost, along with two rubs; Smoked Bacon Maple Sugar and Maple Bay Sugar. Hint: Try the Smoked Bacon salt in green beans.

TBJ Bacon Jams are available for $15 each.

Arctic Zone Expandable Thermal Insulated Food Carrier-We live in the South, and if there’s one thing that’s possibly more well-known here than sweet tea, it’s casseroles. I still have a mental list from when I was a child of who, at our former church, makes the best chicken casserole. This is serious stuff. Nothing makes someone feel more inferior around here than seeing their cooking rival waltz into the fellowship hall with their casserole looking perfect, encased in the cutest little casserole carrier you ever did see. Turn the tables this Christmas and get yourself or your friend an Arctic Zone Expandable Thermal Insulated Food Carrier— you’ll be the talk of the town when you show up with a casserole hot out of the oven, tucked into this bad boy.

Featuring a Therma-Flect lining originally designed to keep astronauts safe in extreme temperatures, the radiant barrier reflects heat instead of absorbing it, allowing you to transport both hot and cold food safely and easily. The Thermal Insulated Food Carrier also features Microban, which prevents uncontrolled bacteria growth, keeping your food carrier from getting any funky smells from food spills. (Just remember-Microban is not a substitute for cleaning your Food Carrier.) The Expandable Thermal Insulated Food Carrier features an easy-clean interior and exterior, which can be wiped clean with soap and water. The Food Carrier fits a 9″x13″ baking dish.
Arctic Zone Food Pro

The Arctic Zone Expandable Thermal Insulated Food Carrier is available in four colors to fit any aesthetic and has an MSRP of $35.

Gifts For Around the Home:

For the Crafter:

KNIPEX Tools – Do you love making crafts or fiddling with projects around the house? Are you frustrated with cheap tools that break mid-use, allowing pieces to fly up and hit you in the eye? True Story. That happened to me.  It’s time to invest in quality tools.  KNIPEX, founded in 1892 by Carl Gustav Putsch, has forged innovative tools for almost 130 years.

We received two sizes of the KNIPEX CoBolt® Compact Bolt Cutters. These specially-designed Bolt Cutters were launched in 1988 with a “cleverly devised lever-action mechanism” that “increases the user’s manual force by up to 20 times.”  These tools are made from chrome vanadium heavy-duty steel and are oil-hardened multiple times during the forging process.  I cut a lot of wire to hang things in my garden and on my patio. This design allows me to cut through thin and heavy wires with no problem.  I can even use them to cut rivets, piano wire, and nails if I so chose.

The efficient joint design means I don’t have to expend a lot of effort when I’m using the tools, while the no-slip handles are easy to grip.  Plus, the bright red and blue pattern makes them easy to find when I’m digging through the toolbox.

KNIPEX 7101200 8-Inch Lever Action Mini-Bolt Cutter is available on Amazon for $39.97, while the Knipex 71 32 200 Comfort Grip High Leverage CoBolt Cutter with Notch and Spring is available for $47.29.

For the Gardener:

Uncommon Goods Garden Ducks with Wellies -My backyard garden is my pride and joy. I am always on the search for new and unusual decor items that add a spark of personality, like these ducks made exclusively for Uncommon Goods. Made from recycled teak and bamboo, each duck is hand-carved by artisans in Indonesia. Because of this each duck has its own unique personality. They’re finished with hand-painted blue wellies with white polka dots and then given a name. Mine are Ken, Norman, and Karen.

They come in three sizes with the smallest duck being 5 in., the medium duck being 6 to 9 in., and the large duck measuring in at 12 in. It’s not a problem to keep them clean either; all they need is to be wiped with a damp cloth. Everyone who sees them in my garden admires them and asks where I got them. They’re staying inside for the winter, but once spring rolls around I’ll give them a coat of clear varnish and once again allow them to parade through my flower beds.

The Uncommon Goods Garden Ducks with Wellies have a price point of around $30 to $40.

For Cleaning:

Corel UV Sanitizer -One thing I wish I had when my daughter was younger was a sanitizer for bottles. Although it was fairly simple to toss them into the dishwasher, I hated running such a small load of dishes. The Coral UV sanitizer would have solved that issue— I would have probably cried with joy if someone had gifted me one when my child was an infant. But listen, this sanitizer isn’t just for baby bottles. It can be used for cell phones, electronics, toys, makeup items, and small kitchen items! You know the ones, the ones that are hard to clean and you’re not sure if they’re going to be the reason you finally succumb to food poisoning despite your best efforts? Those. And, even better, it sanitizes all of these items in as little as 10 minutes!

Worry about food poisoning no more, as the Coral kills 99.99% of e. Coli, as well as 99.99% of staphylococcus aureus and candida Albicans, through a process using ultraviolet C light. That means no water, no heat, and no chemicals. The Coral is easy to maintain, is lead and Phthalates free, and the filters only need to be changed every 3 months, while the UV light only needs to be changed once a year. With four smart functions; auto, sanitize, dry, and storage, plus a stainless steel basket to hold small items, cleaning is a breeze. The dryer cycle means that items come out dry and don’t have to be wiped down before putting them away. A touch control and countdown feature make it simple enough for the most sleep-deprived new mom to use. And, haven’t we all been there?

For Relaxation:

Therapedic®Reversible Weighted Cooling Throw– Who among us doesn’t want to take some time to relax? With our hectic schedules and long days, it can be hard to find “me time.”  Next time you need a break, curl up on the couch for a few minutes with the Therapedic Reversible Weighted Cooling Throw. This throw, made from 100% rayon made from bamboo,  weighs in at ten pounds. Why is this important? The weight mimics deep pressure stimulation a calming technique that is known to improve sleep,  mood, and daily relaxation.

The inside is filled with nontoxic microbeads to provide a cooling effect and the outside is quilted to keep the weight evenly distributed. Available in three colors, grey, navy, or taupe, the throw is reversible, soft, and comfy. It feels like being wrapped in a giant hug.  I actually found myself unwinding when I wrapped up in this and keep it on my couch to use every evening. It’s stylishly made and looks just as good on the back of the couch as spread over the bed.  Note: It is spot-clean only.
Therapedic Weighted Throw
The Therapedic®Reversible Weighted Cooling Throw is available at Bed, Bath, & Beyond for $99.99.

i-Jazz Bluetooth headphones – If you are a frequent traveler, you know the struggle of flying is real. You get on the plane and want to listen to music, a podcast, or maybe catch up on some work.  You plug your cheap headphones into your phone or tablet and the cord snaps. This happened to me the last time I flew. I didn’t even get to listen to a word of the audiobook I had been saving for the flight. The i-Jazz Bluetooth headphones solve this problem. They’re wireless, have a flexible, lightweight neckband so they fit comfortably, and contain several different sizes of earbuds to keep them in your ears.

The 260mAh rechargeable battery lasts up to nineteen hours while in use-which should keep you in tunes through those long layovers-and has a short 2 1/2 hour recharge time. Add in the noise-reduction feature and the fact that they will stay connected within 10 meters (about 32 feet) from the phone, and you’ve got a great addition to any carry-on bag.  And, they’re IPX4 rated, which means they’re sweatproof and can be splashed with water with no damage.  Designed for exercise or workouts, they also work when you’re frantically running across the airport trying not to miss a connecting flight.

The i-Jazz Wireless Bluetooth Headphones have an MSRP of $43.99.

Cleure DIY Spa Gift Set – I love the mission behind this company.  The founder, Dr. Stay, was in private dental practice in 1987 where she shared toothpaste samples with her clients. After researching some of the effects of the toothpaste, she developed her own brand; Cleure.  Later, she began researching ingredient safety and sought advice from dermatologists, allergists, and cancer specialists to find lists of chemicals to avoid. She used this knowledge to develop her own skincare, haircare, body care, and make-up lines that are free of fragrance, masking fragrance, harsh preservatives, parabens, and formaldehyde.

As a person who has watched many of my relatives suffer from cancer, I can’t tell you how much a little pampering will go a long way. The Cleure DIY Spa Gift Set is the perfect treat. It contains one pore-refining facial mask, one exfoliating scrub, one emu oil, one non-toxic nail polish in the shade of Catalina Coral, one top/base coat non-toxic nail polish, and one zippered red cosmetic bag. This set is perfect to gift to a friend, to use for a mother/daughter day, or just to keep for yourself. Sshhh. We won’t tell anyone.
