Do you have no clue what to buy the kids and adults in your life? Do you wait until a few days before Christmas, and realize the holidays have sneaked up on you once again? Hey, it happens. This year, due to COVID restrictions and delays in shipping, it’s a good idea to get inspiration a little earlier than usual. We have you covered with some Great Last Minute Gift Ideas for Kids & Adults.
Great Last-Minute Holiday Gifts
We’ve divided our guide into two sections, For Kids and For Adults. This post will be updated until December 23rd so be sure to check back often for new ideas.
For Kids
Crayola Scribble Scrubbie Pets & Crayola Color Wonder Activity Pads– We have a child who has an artistic side. Unfortunately, some of these tendencies have shown up in drawings on the walls or furniture. That’s why I’m thrilled with Crayola’s Scribble Scrubbie Pets Series. These sets include washable markers which can be used to draw on the included pets. After completing the designs, the animals can be scrubbed clean, air-dried, and used again and again. The Classic Award winning Pets Scrub Tub Playset comes with 4 animals, Francesca and Scooter (dogs), Peach (cat), and Clyde (bunny), along with 6 nontoxic washable markers, a scrubbing tub with a hose that really works, and a scrubbing brush.
The new Scribble Scrubbie Groom Truck playset has a grooming truck, attachable cart, a cleaning station with a real working pump, 3 markers, and 2 pets dogs. We’ve had tons of fun decorating the animals. Add to the fun by downloading their free Scribble Scrubbie App. The Color Wonder Set is perfect for road trips or just trips around town. It’s a no-mess kit that features Wonder Markers. They only show up on the paper and nothing else.
Grandma and Me in the Kitchen– If you’re looking for a way to bond with your 4-7-year-old grandchild, Grandma and Me in the Kitchen is the perfect activity! The set includes a kid-sized apron, potholder, fabric paint, a One-of-a-kind Activity Recipe Journal with conversation cards, journal prompts, and recipe pages, and the book, What if You Were a Chef at the Zoo? The Activity Recipe Journal is divided into sections, with spaces for Grandma to share recipes and memories, grandkids to draw and share responses, and a More Activities and Recipes section.
We had a terrific time trying this, customizing the apron and making a keepsake handprint pot holder. We then made Reese’s Pieces peanut butter fudge and added the recipe to the book. I plan to make a recipe with “Critter” each time she visits and add it to the book. When it is finished, not only will she have a wonderful keepsake, she’ll also have a collection of treasured family recipes and memories of time spent with her Maymay.
Crazy Aaron’s Thinking Putty Mixed By Me Glow in the Dark Kit– Gooey products has become a favorite at our house. Now, “Critter” can make her own with Crazy Aaron’s Thinking Putty. The set includes everything you need to make your own putty, including includes five tins of clear putty, three color concentrates, three special effects, and an instructional mat. Colored pencils are included to create custom decorated tins to match.
The winner of ASTRA’s 2015 Best Toys for Kids award, this putty is non-toxic and never dries out. Kids can create their own glow-in-the-dark designs and add shimmer and glitter, if desired. It’s a fun way to learn about color mixing while encouraging creativity. If you’d like to share your creations, tag #mythinkingputty.
Toniebox and Tonies- Are you worried your children have too much screen time, especially during the pandemic? Try the Tonie Box and spark your child’s imagination! This snuggable and durable storytelling and singing box allows your child to listen to stories, music, and more without screens. Set-up is easy using the Tonie App and the app allows parents control of the volume and access rights. Available in 7 colors, It’s easy for kids to use too; just squeeze an ear to raise or lower the volume and tap the sides to rewind, fast forward or change chapters.
I love the portability of the Toniebox. It has up to seven hours battery life, is small enough for a child to hold, and even has a headphone jack in case you need quiet time. Did I mention this is great for road trips? Kids can switch up the adventures by simply changing the Tonies, small hand-painted figurines to attach magnetically on top of the box. These figurines sing songs, tell stories, and more. If that’s not enough, Creative Tonies are available that allow kids or adults to record their own stories, songs, or other activities.
Stick-O Forest Friends 16-Piece Magnetic Building Set– Magformers are a favorite at our house, and their Stick-O collection is a welcome addition. Designed for ages 18 months and up, this forest friends set includes 16 colorful pieces; 3 Spheres, 3 Sticks, 2 Discs, and magnetic accessories including bunny ears, flowers, cones, flower pots, and elephant ears. As always, the Stick-O products are compatible with all other sets.
These toys encourage early STEM learning and the magnets always stick. They stick to metal so they’re fun to use on the fridge to make new designs.
Sunny Days Wonder Wings -The bright, colorful pieces are large enough for little hands to grasp, and teach concepts of color and shape recognition, fine motor skills, and problem-solving ability. I’m all for promoting STEM activity in children in a fun learning environment. Kids can explore connectivity, creativity, and problem-solving skills while making their own designs.
It’s constructed to last for years and will find a permanent place by a child’s side. “Glitter Sparkles,” as our unicorn is named, has been carried around everywhere since her arrival and is the star in several bedtime stories. She’s the perfect gift for any unicorn lover.
Barbie Dream Camper Pop Up Play Tent- Lately, “Critter” has been obsessed with camping. This camper pop up play tent allows her to indulge in camping both indoors and out. I love that it doesn’t require assembly; just pop it open and go. It’s made of sturdy plastic and contains a zippered door on one end. The holes on the rooftop allow her to pretend she is driving the camper to her favorite campground and the door allows her to pretend she is inside a tent.
We use it outside on warmer days, moving it around the yard to new camping spots. She’s created an entire “map” of places to visit, like Flower Valley, Spooky Valley, and Lettuce Valley. We’ve even created an entire campsite. Inside, when it’s cold, it’s the perfect place to cuddle with a lovey and read books while wrapped in a blanket and drinking cocoa. This has been a super creative toy and allows her to use her imagination.
Shore Buddies- These cute, cuddly animals have a triple mission in life, they recycle, they promote awareness of the dangers of plastic for marine life, and they’re cuddly. Available in five styles, Finn the Dolphin, Shelly the Sea Turtle, Stephen Seagull, Sammy the Seal, and Emma the Whale, these toys are made from recycled plastic bottles. Each toy uses 6 plastic bottles which are cleaned and shredded into plastic flakes. Some of these flakes are used for the Shore Buddies’ stuffing, others get melted and turned into polyester yarn for the soft outside.
For each of these eco-friendly animals purchased, Shore Buddies donates $1 for the Ocean. Proceeds fund educational outreach campaigns to educate children about the dangers of Ocean Plastic Pollution, to save marine life, and keep plastics out of the ocean. Shelly, pictured above, makes authentic sea turtle noises when pressed. Other animals in this series produce authentic noises as well.
Wild Republic Comfortkins, Pillowkins, and Screen Grabbers– COVID-19 has been hard on us all, but especially on children. They’re separated from their friends, can’t do their usual activities, and need comfort. That’s where the new Comfortkins line from Wild Republic comes into play. Their new collection, including Comfortkins stuffed animals, Pillowkins, and Screen Grabbers, gives kids a cuddly buddy to help navigate through the tough times.
The Comfortkin Screengrabbers are made to attach to a computer or laptop (without causing damage) and give kids someone to share the school day with. They are available in 6 designs; sloth, unicorn, cat, corgi, red panda, and dinosaur. Pillowkins can be used as a pillow or hugged during the day when kids are stressed. They’re available in 7 styles, giraffe, sloth, shark, lion, panda, penguin, and red alien. Comfortkins are plush stuffed animals that wear a mask. Matching masks are available (sold separately) for kids and help kids practice wearing masks just like their buddies.
Flip Over Frog Game- This game, designed for ages 6+, is a fun game of strategy and skill. It comes with a board, frog tokens, and snake tokens. That’s all you need to ‘flip your way to victory.’ At the beginning of each game, players are given a secret frog token, which reveals which color of frog you are trying to flip over. At the end of the game, the player who has the most frogs of their color wins. It sounds simple, and it is, but you have to maneuver around arrows and avoid snakes who want to eat you.
There’s no reading involved, so younger kids can join in the fun, making it a true family game night experience. The winner won’t be revealed until the end-when the entire board is covered and the pieces are flipped so kids (and adults) stay engaged until the end.
Ice Hopper, Spooky Ball, and Ice Ball – There’s nothing that says childhood than a ball. Kids have used them for generations and they never get old. Kess has taken a classic and improved it with their Spooky Ball and Ice Ball. The Spooky Ball is a clear plastic ball filled with (plastic) spiders while the Ice Ball is filled with shimmery liquid glitter which sparkles and shimmers when thrown or bounced. The Ice Ball comes in 6 colors; light blue, dark blue, purple, pink, orange, and green.
The Ice Hopper is an updated version of the skip toys. Place one ankle in the toy and try to “skip” over the attached ice ball. It’s great exercise and fun to see how long we can skip without missing. It comes in four colors including silver, blue, and purple.
For Adults
Kahawa 1893 Coffee– If you’ve ever wondered where your coffee came from, try Kahawa 1893 coffee. They provide delicious coffee direct from the source; the farmers in Kenya. What’s more, they help female coffee farmers. 100% of proceeds go directly to the female coffee producers we work with, and, if you leave a tip, they match all tips to double the impact. The coffee is available in 5 varieties; medium roast Safari Blend, Kenyan Peaberry, 1893 Espresso, dark roast Serengeti blend, and natural process Ethiopian.
Coffee can be purchased by the 12-ounce bag in whole or ground varieties, in 5-lb bags, in a coffee flight of 3 varieties, or in single-serving packages of 12, 24, 36, or 72. The beans are roasted fresh each Tuesday and then shipped the same day for a delicious fresh taste. We tried the Safari blend with notes of Stone Fruit and Caramel. It’s delicious with or without added cream. You really can taste the difference in freshly roasted coffee.
Vervana Dipping Essentials Olive Oil Gift Set– Dr. Stephen Sinatra has a vision; to feed the body with clean, healthy energy that works with the body’s natural rhythms. He’s done that with his Vervana product line featuring organic, natural, non-GMO, raw, or eco-friendly products that are rich in nutrition and minimally processed. He doesn’t use synthetic pesticides and other toxic chemicals. Instead, he focuses on flavor. You’ll find this sustainability carried over into the packaging too, with glass bottles, and almost 100% recyclable or compostable shipping materials.
We tried the Vervana Dipping Essentials Olive Oil Gift Set. It comes with Organic Extra Virgin Olive Oil, Olive Oil Dipping Spice Blend, a handcrafted rustic olive oil bowl, and a spoon that’s been hand-carved from a single piece of olive wood. The Dipping Sauce Blend has 10 seasonings and can be used as a spice rub or as a dipping sauce. This set is beautiful enough to set out for company and is an excellent addition to a charcuterie board.
Cold Brew Cowffee– Cold coffee is my jam. If you’re like me, you are probably on the go a lot. Cold Brew Cowffee from Pursue Happiness makes it easy for me to enjoy my coffee on the go. These 11-ounce tetrapaks are perfect to keep on the shelf or in the fridge until you’re ready to grab them. Made with coffee from Guatemala and milk from Spruce Haven Farms, a family-owned farm, this blend uses Pursue Happiness’s patented CLA protein.
The Penn State extension explains, “Conjugated linoleic acid (CLA) is a naturally occurring component of ruminant milk fat and meat.” According to researchers, CLA brings a promising approach to redesigning food because milk has high levels of CLA, and CLA has been shown to have numerous potential benefits for human health. Good health + Good Taste? What’s not to like?
I hope these ideas inspire you and help you find the perfect gift. Who is the hardest person to shop for on your list?
