“Picking” has been a hobby of mine since I was a teen. While other teens were spending their time at the mall, I would be attempting to talk my friends into accompanying me inside dusty barns, sheds and old, abandoned houses in search of the perfect “pick.” Naturally, as an adult, I love watching American Pickers and comparing their “picks” with mine. When I heard Mike Wolfe, creator and star of American Pickers on History, was going to be at the Charlotte Pike Walmart Supercenter, thanks to Capri Sun Big Pouch, I knew I had to meet him.
Accompanied by my daughter, we set out on a road trip to meet Mike, packing a cooler of Capri Sun Big Pouch Maui Cooler and Capri Sun Big Pouch Fruit Punch for the drive. My daughter has several health problems and is no longer able to drink a lot of drinks she used to enjoy. She loved Capri Sun pouches when she was younger, but as she got older she had to drink two at a meal. With the bigger size she can have her favorite flavors again.
We arrived early for the event and found ourselves second in line to meet Mike Wolfe, the creator and star of American Pickers on History. While standing in line I learned about a fun Picking contest for kids sponsored by Capri Sun and Walmart. One winner and three friends will get to spend a half day in Nashville “picking” with him. It’s simple to enter, just upload a picture of a cool item you found through picking and you have a shot of being on your way to Nashville.
When he arrived, I waited impatiently for my chance to meet him and have our picture made with him. He was so nice! He posed with me through several pictures and then posed again when Instagram shut down and deleted my photos. I told him my husband, Bryan, was his biggest fan but hadn’t been able to accompany me because of work. He graciously agreed to autograph a picture addressed to Bryan, earning me several “great wife points.”
For anyone in the Nashville or surrounding area who missed seeing Mike Wolfe, creator and star of American Pickers on History, at the Charlotte Pike Walmart, you have another chance. He will be at the Walmart Supercenter located at 5824 Nolensville Pike on Saturday, October 19th, from 1 to 3 PM.
Are you a Picker? What are some of your favorite finds?
It sounds like you had an amazing time with your daughter. What a lucky opportunity to meet him! #client
What a wonderful opportunity! You must have had an amazing time!
What a great day. I love to watch his show too. He amazes me with his wide range of knowledge.
How much fun would that be?? My kids loved Capri SUn when they were in school!
How cool! I love that show and would have been thrilled to have gotten to meet Mike as well. My kids love Capri Suns and I always have my drink fridge stocked with them.
How exciting! I love the show. I bet it was awesome for a fan like you that really enjoys the hobby! I like the idea of picking but in reality I’m too lazy to fix anything up to use!
i haven’t met a celebrity really since i was in college and volunteered with the student entertainment board – this looks like a lot of fun!
I have never heard of the show, but what a wonderful experience to get to meet the person behind the show! I have always loved picking, even as a child. My favorite places to go find old or rare finds is at flea markets and yard sales.
so so jealous, but excited for you!! we enjoy that show in our house
I love hearing how celebs can actually be nice. Most of the time you hear the negative not the positive.
I love to pick and I love that show. The problem with “picking” is finding a place for everything. Looks like you have a great time.
That’s really neat! Of course I don’t have cable and don’t even know who he is! lol
I haven’t heard of it, but that’s only because we’re terrible about watching anything on the TV. It’s nice that you got to meet him though, I am sure it was fun and memorable!
Surely, a one memorable event with Mike! Great photo! My kids loved Capri Sun.
I’ve actually never heard of him or seen the show, but I’m a huge fan of “picking” just like you! There’s just something exhilarating about finding an unexpected treasure. What an awesome opportunity for you to meet one of your favorite celebrities! He seems like a genuinely nice guy!
That is so cool! I wish our walmart did something cool like this in our area! My kids love turning “trash” into something useful, so they would love to meet him!
They are from by where we live. I heard Mike is very nice. You are so lucky to met him-cool!!
Pretty sweet! I bet that was a great experience. I have to say I am a little jealous 🙂
EEEKKK I’m jealous! I love American Pickers!!! My dh and I watched all the episodes on Netflix. We love to pick as well, grew up doing it. 🙂
Awesome, what a great shot of you, your daughter and Mike. I’m in Europe, so I guess I’ll never get the chance, and now I’m a bit jealous 🙂
Oh wow I have to admit even over here in the UK I do love watching American Pickers. I don’t think we really do the same sort of thing over here. x
How exciting! What a great way for you and your daughter to spend the day together.
