Imagine spending an evening with famous stars like Angelina Jolie or Will Smith. That’s what I did when I took a trip to the Hollywood Wax Museum in Pigeon Forge, the only wax museum in the country devoted entirely to Hollywood celebrities. We began our tour by stopping by for a quick photo opp with the great ape of Pigeon Forge. The attendant told us to “look scared.” I tried my best to look scared of the statue behind me but told the attendant, “I have kids. It takes a lot to scare me!”
Once inside we stopped to stare at some of the hottest Hollywood stars, looking so life like I expected them to say, “What are you staring at?” With two complete floors of entertainment, there are plenty of stars to see. The museum is divided into sections, beginning with some of the hottest actors in Hollywood today. I stopped to admire Orlando Bloom and Johnny Depp, dressed in costume from the Pirates of The Caribbean.
One of my favorite sections of the museum was devoted to classic television characters including Jeannie from I Dream of Jeannie and Lucille Ball of I Love Lucy. The kids were excited to see a selection of actors from modern movies, like Robert Pattinson and Kristen Stewart from Twilight. When we arrived on the second floor I decided the first section we must visit was the Chamber of Horrors section, which, I will warn you, might not be suitable for young children or those who frighten easily. Wandering among characters like Count Dracula, Frankenstein or Jason depicted in such realistic detail could cause nightmares or , if you are like me, fascination. The process to make these figures is quite complex, requiring seven different artists and taking three months to complete. No detail is spared as they create the likenesses and the backdrops resemble the movie or television settings.
The museum is interactive, allowing for photo opps with all the characters throughout the museum, many of whom we were able to walk right up and stand beside. Be sure to allot at least two hours for a visit to the museum and bring your camera. The museums are updated regularly with the least popular figures replaced with new statues, allowing a different experience each time we visit. The Hollywood Wax Museum is open 365 days a year and offers discounts for groups of twenty or more. I may never have a chance to meet the stars in person, but visiting the Hollywood Wax Museum was the next best thing. If you are looking for tourist attractions in Pigeon Forge or a fun idea for family vacations, you can learn more about the Hollywood Wax Museum by visiting their Facebook page.

Half the fun is coming up with silly poses with the wax figures, I’m thinking. I wonder how they decide what’s popular and what’s not.

I have been to Madame Toussaud’s in NYC and loved every minute of it. It is somewhat frightening to see such lifelike wax people, but then I got to thinking about how hard it is to make them and calmed down. The Hollywood Wax Museum mist be awesome-wished I lived anywhere near there-I would be sure to visit.
I have been to these too and they are a lot of fun. Its hilarious how some of them look so REAL!
