The Atlanta Dogwood Festival

Lured by the promise of abundant natural beauty, I headed down to the 77th annual Dogwood Festival in Atlanta.  My daughter and her boyfriend had been bribed to attend when they learned of the free Sara Evans concert later that evening, where I planned to sing along to “When You Were Cheating” loudly and probably off key, the abundance of food trucks and the chance to see the Southern Nationals Disc Dogs contest.

Luring us in with the yummy Georgia Peach cupcakes

We had just arrived when I spotted the Mohawk Van that is making its way around the country as part of its Better Tour.  We’ve been using Mohawk products in my family since I was a child. They are the world’s largest flooring manufacturer and have offices in our area. I had hoped to meet Audra Lowe of The Better Show, but her flight was cancelled and she wasn’t able to attend.  Instead, I was given a chance to taste some delicious Georgia Peach cupcakes supplied by Smallcakes Cupcakery.  My daughter, never one to miss appearing in the spotlight, agreed to test one on camera for a local TV station.  She claims it was because she wanted to get her hands on more cupcakes, but I think it was because she didn’t want to miss a chance to say she’d been on television.
	Carpet Care Tips, Triexta
While I was snacking on my cupcake, I was shown the new Smartstrand stain resistant carpet. Now, I don’t know about your family, but my kids admit they are the kings (and queen) of klutziness.  They take it after their mom. I have spent years cleaning up spills and not just little spills either.  My kids have managed to leave the top off my blender and spray all my cabinets and floor with red kool aid,  dropped bottles of Gatorade on the floor and that’s just the beginning.  When I was told the new SmartStrand silk carpet would clean up with just water, I snapped to attention.

Here’s Trent, the adorable youngster who is on the side of the Licensed to Spill Van.

I watched as my daughter’s boyfriend took a piece of carpeting and soaked it down with Gatorade and wine.  Then, using a squirt bottle of water, he poured it on the stain.  My jaw dropped open as I watched the stain disappear. While Mohawk recommends in its carpet cleaning tips to use a rag, some warm water and a mild dish soap to clean, I was pretty impressed with the results using cold water.  Did I mention this carpet is made out of corn and has a permanent stain and soil protection that will never wear off? Where, oh where was this carpet when my daughter was dousing the floor with red Kool-aid?

Soft Carpet
The same carpet after being cleaned using only cold water. Yep, I was amazed too.

What is your worst carpet mess? Could you use the new SmartStrand carpet in your home?
