The temperatures in our area have been uncomfortably hot this summer. While I’m fine with 90 degree weather, when it hits 106 and up, it’s too hot for me! We don’t have a covered patio so outdoor activities with friends are kept at a minimum during the day. When dusk rolls around, however, we enjoy meeting with family and friends, chatting and enjoying meals prepared on our new grill.
My long suffering husband has listened to me dream of revitalizing our patio and backyard for several years. I shift between wanting a romantic garden or a tropical oasis. Having enjoyed several business trips in the Rivera Maya with my husband’s coworkers, I envision a welcoming covered space or a romantic, flower covered bower.

This picture reminds me of romantic dinners.
I have a lovely, large backyard that I am sure could be transformed into a huge herb and flower garden. Just add furniture and decorative accents and it would be a wonderful place to host a dinner party or family celebrations.
I also have a fairly dismal patio with outdoor furniture that fades quickly from the heat.
The faded color is how it actually looks not because of overexposure.
. Since Bryan loves grilling with our fancy new grill, I thought I might show Bryan pictures of new outdoor décor and convince him it would be easy to redo our patio and backyard.

This catalog features ideas from real shoppers that I could duplicate at home to create a welcoming outdoor living space. Kmart has everything I might need for my outdoor retreat; name brand patio furniture, seating sets, lawn furniture and grills. I made a collage of Kmart products I liked on Polyvore. I plan on emailing the link to Bryan. Each picture is directly linked to the Outdoor Living item I chose. An added bonus for me, Kmart is having an end of season clearance sale. All items were half price.
I’m pushing for a pergola or a gazebo so we can spend more time outside. I am checking the Kmart Weekly Deals to find the lowest price.
You have a beautiful backyard! That pergola would look wonderful in it. That’s a great idea to make a collage of things for your backyard makeover. I think I’m going to try that for my kitchen and living room.
