We were provided a gift card by Red Robin to try to their new Allergen Free Menu. However, all opinions are my own.
Going out to eat with my family can be an ordeal. If my daughter goes out with us, we have to find somewhere with some gluten free items on the menu. That can be a trial, but making sure she doesn’t get anything cross contaminated is also a problem. We can list restaurant after restaurant, only to have it rejected. When Red Robin offered us the chance to come and try their Allergen Free Menu, I jumped on the chance as fast as I could return the email! I knew my daughter could eat there because she had been telling me about her recent dining experience there with a friend and “how I didn’t get glutened at all!” I’m not sure if “glutened” is a real word, but that’s what we call any exposure to gluten. Our nearest Red Robin is located at Hamilton Place Mall in Chattanooga, and the entire family headed over for dinner.
I knew this would be a good dining experience because the staff didn’t even blink when we asked for the allergy free menu. They brought us an iPad with the Customizer Hub rel=”nofollow”(also available as a downloadable app) and we began studying the menu. There’s a long list of allergens you can avoid, including shellfish, peanuts and other common allergens. Once we had selected “No gluten,” it took us to a page asking which menu category we’d like to see.
We chose fire grilled burgers and were immediately taken to the available choices and what could be substituted for ingredients. She finally settled on the D.G.B burger with a substitution of a gluten free bun and no seasoning on the fries.
I was impressed at how well versed the waiter was in the allergy free options. Instead of the usual, “Um, I’m not sure, I’ll try to find out,” he patiently answered all of our questions. Her burger even had a toothpick in the top to be sure it was not confused with any of our burgers.
The one downside of the gluten free menu was the lack of available options on the dessert menu. She was only able to purchase a hot Fudge Sundae, although she really wanted to share in the Mountain High Mud Pie, a slice of ice cream large enough for the entire family.
I’m glad to have an allergen free restaurant we can all agree on and can’t wait to go back and have more of their FreckleBerry Lemonade. Do you have food allergies? How do you handle going out to eat?
Nobody in my family has a food allergy but this is a GREAT idea that all restaurants should adopt! You can never be too safe when it comes to allergies!
this is one of our go to places for my niece. They always accommodate her with her Celiac.
This is great. People should feel safe eating out with an allergy menu. Knowing what is in your meal matters to a lot of people and it eliminates the dangers. I love this.
I hope they add more gluten free desserts soon! I had no idea Red Robin had so many great options for allergies
My brother in law has allergies. It is great that they are so helpful to all of the guests.
I love that Red Robin offers a tablet that you can select your allergies. I have a gluten, egg and dairy allergy that I have to watch out for when eating out.
That’s really rather impressive! I haven’t been to Red Robin in a while and now I’m excited to check it out!
I’ve never been to Red Robin. I don’t think we have one around here.
We don’t have any allergy problems in my house but I do love a company that makes sure everyone is included! And that cake looks amazing!
Its really nice to see restaurants being more accommodating these days. I wish we had a Red Robin where I live!
Ive never ate Red Robin before! Thanks for the review it looks delish!
I love that the staff was right on top of knowing they had that menu. Hurrah for Red Robin for making such considerations to their menu!
That is really awesome! I had no idea that Red Robin had that. I hear people rave about their food all the time but I have never been to one. I don’t even know if their is one around here.
The interactive allergen menu is impressive and a customer-friendly way for Red Robin to send a “We Care!” message to customers. Even though the restaurant is about 60 miles away in Reno (NV), I now know where I can take visitors with food allergies and individual preparation requirements. The choices sound delicious.
Their burgers are delish. Glad they have options!
FreckleBerry Lemonade sounds delicious! It is wonderful that the waiter was versed on gluten-free and what they offered. Sounds like you found a place that is a good fit for your family.
We don’t have any food allergies, but man does this make me love Red Robin. The app/iPad relieves the pressure from the wait staff & would make me feel more confident I was getting food I could eat.
I have only eaten at red Robin once. Great that they cater to folks with allergies
I have heard of this place, have never been though.
That’s great that they can cater to those with food sensitivities! I haven’t been there in a while, but I do remember loving their burgers and onion rings. And their strawberry lemonade is divine!
I’m glad I don’t have any food allergies. If I did, a menu like this would be so helpful!
I love that restaurants are doing this. Its sure makes dining out more pleasurable with these requests.
There are getting to be a lot of restaurants out there that work with people that have food allergies. I can tell you I’m happy to see red Robin is one of them
Red Robin has always been accommodating. I like that they took care of your needs for you. A lot of places wouldn’t care.
I’ve never eaten at a Red Robin! They sound like a super tasty place.
I think its fantastic that they’ve taken people with allergies into consideration. Everything looks really good too, that pis is huge!
My whole family loves Red Robin! It’s great that there are options for people with allergies!
We love Red Robin, they have the best chicken strips. It is good to hear they take gluten free seriously.
That is so awesome, I have never been to Red Robin but would surely love to give it a try some day!
Wow, interactive allergen menu! That is awesome!! We have been able to get
my son’s allergies under such better control that we are able to eat out now most of the time without having to worry about the allergens.
I feel for those whose allergies are so severe or those with Celiac who cannot ever have cross-contamination even. It was hard enough for us having to restrict things at times. But thankfully at least now restaurants like this one are making it so much easier!!
We don’t have a Red Robin here in Canada, at least not in Ontario that I know of. This would be great though. That food looks amazing too!
I love Red Robin and I love to see that they have expanded their menu to help out those with food allergies.
That’s such a great idea! I love that you can specify which foods you’re allergic to. That has to be nice for someone with food allergies.
A wait staff that knows what they are talking about is a sure sign of a quality restaurant. (And I’ve got a decade or two of experience in that!)
Yes, I agree. I love it when the waiters know what they are talking about.
My friend, whose son has peanut allergies eats there a lot because they are very good with his allergy. Our family loves the red Robin because it’s delicious 🙂
