Back to School Teacher Gift Basket Craft

This post is brought to you by Dollar Tree Value Seekers Club and Blueprint Social. All opinions are mine.

I have fond memories from my elementary school teaching days.  I miss the hugs, the smiles when the kids mastered a difficult concept, and the joy of knowing I was having an impact on future generations.  What I don’t miss is the lack of classroom supplies.  I found I was spending a good chunk of my paycheck just to keep my classroom stocked with the basics; pencils, crayons and glue.  That’s why each year, when the kids head back to school, we make a “Teacher Survival Kit.”  It’s a nice pick me up for the teacher, lets her know she is appreciated, and helps save her some money! Making a Teacher Survival Package doesn’t have to cost a fortune either.  We found an ideal from the Dollar Tree Value Seekers Club, a free website filled with crafts, recipes, décor, tips, contests, insider information, frugal fun ideas, and more!
Teacher Gift Basket

The content changes monthly and the project sheets can be saved and printed off for an easy shopping list at the store.  You can find the complete instructions on how to make a Teacher Survival Kit here.
items I used

This year I decided to make our Teacher Survival Kit more health focused.  I spent a lot of my time as a teacher catching colds and stomach viruses.  I am all for sparing my child’s teacher from illness! I found a small basket and filled it with (mostly) necessities, including a package of tissues, hand sanitizer and a bottle of headache medication.  I added a layer of Blow Pops  that could be placed in the teacher treat bucket or to be nibbled on by our teacher if she was having a bad day! Believe me, there were a few times I needed to dip into the treat bag!

Happy Healthy School Year
Right Click to download the printable.

I rounded it off by making a small tag saying, “Have a Happy Healthy School Year” which I tied on with a ribbon for a cute finishing touch.  I can make a cute treat basket, depending on all the “ingredients” I add, for $5 to $10.
