This is Rio, our dog. He’s a cranky older guy who was rescued from a shelter several years ago after his former owner died. He’s adapted well to our family and is especially protective of our daughter. He likes to spend most of his time napping, cuddling with his friend, Zeeba the cat, and barking at strangers. As he has gotten older, we noticed he was often plagued by tummy troubles. One of our first clues was the smells he emitted, usually at embarrassing time when visitors were over. Imagine talking to a friend, noticing a terrible odor and pretending to ignore it. I can tell by their nose wrinkles they were trying to be polite. Our vet suggested we try probiotics. During our next trip to PetSmart, I picked up a bag of the Bayer® ExpertCareTM Probiotic Soft Chews Dog supplements.
Each soft chew is specially formulated for dogs and contains live microorganisms to support digestive health. The bag says it contains 30 days worth of Probiotics, but this is based on the size of the dog. Dogs over sixty pounds need two probiotics a day. Because Rio is a small fifteen pound dog, we feed him one a day.
To be honest, I was afraid Rio wouldn’t like the chews because he is so picky. Instead, he gobbled them up! He thinks it’s a treat! While I can’t say this will work for everyone, I’ve noticed he has much less of an “odor” problem than before he began taking the treats. Even though we’ve mostly used the treats to help maintain Rio’s digestive system, they have other uses.
Most of us know traveling can be stressful for our pets. If they’re with us they are in an unfamiliar environment. If they are staying in a kennel while we are gone, being around other animals can make them nervous. The chews can be used in times of stress, like training, traveling and kenneling. They’re also help after antibiotic therapy and deworming.

Your dog is cute! No fur babies for me yet but you look like you are doing a great job taking care of yours!
I think Bayer has some great products for pets & it is amazing that there is something that can help them with the stress and anxiety for dogs. We don’t have pets at home, but a useful info to share with pet owners.
I didn’t know they make probiotics for dogs. I will check this out.
My pugs get such yucky infections in their ears and face folds so I have to be really on top of it. I have used the ear care products but am excited to try the probiotics.
This sounds perfect for my Sisters dogs. I will have to share this with her.
I didn’t even realize that Bayer had all this stuff for pets until I saw a recent review. I’m going to be trying their grooming line.
What a great product to keep doggie pals feeling healthy. Their well being is also important.
This sounds pretty awesome. Would love to get my pups on these. I will have to check these products out.
Your dog looks so adorable! I know so many dog products and this product seems to be a great choice.
I had no idea they made probiotics for dogs. I’m buying these for my daughter’s dog stat and pray it works for her gas problems. 🙂
I will check these products out. Our fur baby is a healthy little four legged family member and I know it won’t hurt to give him probiotics. Thanks for letting me know about Bayer Expert Care Probiotics soft chews.
I’m glad that Rio is starting to get better. I need to look and see if they have something like this for cats.
I had no idea that they had probiotics for dogs. I take them every day for my health, I am going to look into getting some for my dogs for their health too!
I need something for anxiety for my cats. Any ideas?
We purchased a calming collar for our anxious cat. The vet also recommended that we purchase a calming diffuser that spreads the scent across the room.
I have been thinking about ways to keep my dog healthy. This sounds like a great option for us!
I had no idea Bayer made a pet line. We give our dog treats every day, so we might as well select ones that are beneficial to his health.
My husband and I both take probiotics but I never thought about giving probiotics to my dog! He sometimes has tummy troubles so I’m definitely going to check these out!
When we had our boxers, my male could have really benefited from this. He was high strung and got belly upsets more frequently than our female.
My Daughter has an older little dog that I think needs to start taking probiotics. I think it might help with the horrible breath it has lately. I think it is having digestive issues.
These look like a healthy idea for our pets.
I heard dogs do not digest raw hide bones well and they can upset their digestive track.
I love this idea. It only make sense that probiotics are just as good for our dogs as they are for us.
Probiotics are just as good for our dogs as they are for us. I’ll have to get some of these for our dog.
That’s interesting! I don’t think our dog has tummy troubles, but maybe she does and we just don’t know it! I will try these!
I really expected this to be about doggy aspirin (is that a thing??), but probiotics can benefit all of my pets. I’m checking out your ear wash post, too.
That made me laugh. I believe aspirin is bad for dogs, so I don’t believe it is a thing. 🙂
This sounds like a great product. My sister needs this for her dog. I was over 2 weeks ago and stunk up the room a couple of times.
I love that they can help with stress and anxiety for dogs. Thanks for the info!
I agree, it is great that it can help with stress and anxiety. I don’t have pets, but I will share this with friends and family.
