It’s summer and the living is easy. Or, at least it is supposed to be. But, y’all. I live in the South. It’s hot. It’s humid. With the heat index reaching 105 degrees, going outside can feel like standing inside an oven. The worst part? I don’t want to stay inside! I want to be out enjoying the sunshine. I’ve encouraged this love of outdoors with the kids too. What’s our secret to staying outside? Keeping a cooler of snacks on hand. Hey, you never know when the urge to snack might occur.
One of my favorite snacks this summer is Yoplait Yogurt Mix-Ins. I keep yogurt in the fridge year-round for my sweet cravings, but there’s something about that rich, creamy goodness in the summer that I can’t resist. I’ve discovered a couple of new flavors at Walmart I had to try; Yoplait Yogurt Mix-Ins Very Berry Crisp and Yoplait Yogurt Mix-Ins Salted Caramel Pretzel. And I’ll give you one of my secret tips: After stirring in the mix-ins, you can place the yogurt in a small 3 ounces sized cup. Place a popsicle stick in the cup and place it into the freezer. In about an hour you will have a delicious yogurt pop. I keep some of these on hand for when I need a decadent treat.
Since it is the height of summer, the kids could be saying, “I am bored! What is there to do around here?” Although my favorite option when the kids say this is to assign chores, I also try to find fun activities. We pack a cooler and head out. Here are some of our favorite places to “Mix It Up” that are almost guaranteed to please the kids.
1. Anywhere involving water. It doesn’t matter if it is the pool, the lake, or just a sprinkler in the back yard, you can’t go wrong with water play. Bonus points if you happen to live near a beach!
2. At the park. Parks are a great place to explore and play during the day, but check out their night time activities too! Many of them have free movie nights.
3. Staycations. Find a favorite free or low-cost activity in your area or check out one of the local attractions you’ve always wanted to see but never visited.
4. At home. Plan a family movie night or a family game night. Serve snacks like Yoplait Mix-Ins.
These are some of the top ideas that has kept my family from the dreaded summer boredoms and provided lots of memories! Have you tried Yoplait Mix-Ins? What is your favorite summer activity-alone or with the family?
The Staycation and Anywhere involving water are my favorites! It seems you can do so many different things!
Love these ideas! What a great way to beat summer boredom. Very cool. I love the “anywhere with water” idea. On those hot summer days, water is a MUST.
Love these ideas! We’ve been doing the “anywhere with water” idea for awhile now. My kids love going to the splash pad and the pool.
I am loving all of these ideas. We enjoy spending time by or on the water. It’s a terrific way to spend the summer.
We always wait for summer to arrive and we already make plans before it comes, but when things get really boring a good movie saves the day.
We have taken advantage of all of the tourist-y things our town has to offer this summer. Thankfully there are tons of inexpensive options.
Yum, Yoplait mix-ins look good! I might have to grab some of these for a quick breakfast with my kids.
I agree with your “Anything that involves water tip”. That occupies everyone.
I need to find these in stores! They sound delicious.
I have a bowl of activities we can choose from when boredom hits. Yoplait Yogurt Mix-Ins are a delicious snack. They will be perfect for school lunches.
All of these are great ideas. I love doing staycations and family movie nights. They’re always a lot of fun.
Those Yoplait Yogurts look amazing! I would love to enjoy some and relax on a stay cation.
I’m all about staycations and family movie nights! My girls love picking out fun snacks and their favorite movies for us to watch together!
The mix ins are my favorite because sometimes they have chocolate toppings. 😉 I will have to give these flavors a try.
Those are all great places to get outside and have some fun. I know my kids would love the Yoplait Mix-Ins, too. Such a healthy snack to curb your sweet tooth!
These are great tips! We haven’t tried these yet but definitely want to now! It reaches 120 sometimes here in Arizona (thank goodness we don’t have humidity!), so keeping a cooler on hand is a must!
We love Yoplait yogurt in our home. Especially with school getting ready to start, it’s a great snack!
These are very cool- I don’t eat as much yogurt as I’d like because the texture gets dull for me. This seems like the perfect solution.
My grandkids love these Yoplait mix-ins. Freezing them is an awesome idea, going to try it!
I just discovered these Yoplait Mix Ins a few weeks ago. I love them. We love doing anything that involves water. We have huge water fights regularly.
We are always looking for fun places to go to make the summer more fun. I am not a mom that likes to sit around and do nothing. Anything with water is our favorite way to spend time!
I can’t believe that summer is already almost over! Thanks for the ideas. I want to make sure my kids have some great times before school starts up again.
Cool. Yogurt mix-in to be yogart pops? Kids will enjoy it anywhere I guess. Will try to find and do a pop. Thanks.
I love Yoplait. The Very Berry Crisp sounds so good. I haven’t seen that one yet. You made some great photos!
These yogurt mix-ins are so yummy! I tried one a few weeks ago, and now they’re my favorite snack. Definitely a great way to beat hunger-boredom haha!
I am always up for a fun staycation. it is more economical when you don’t have the funds for a vacation.
My kids love Yoplait and they eat it daily. I’ve never seen the Yoplait mix-ins. They would enjoy that, I need to check out local grocery store and see if they have them.
Anything with water is so true! When in doubt with my kids, we go to a lake, water park or even splash pad. My kids love it! Staycations are always fun too, taking a weekend and exploring around your area. Gotta enjoy summer while you can!
YoPlait mix ins are a great tasting healthy snack. We always have one in the fridge. I’ve caught my husband having some late at night. I don’t mind though. It is yogurt and fruit so he can enjoy it anytime he wants.
I never remember being bored and that was back in the day they say. We found things on our own to keep us busy. Playing outside or on our bikes, no technology.
Great tips! My kiddos head back to school next week, thankfully!
We are all about anything involving water as well. We even go to the creek and have some fun splashing with the dogs.
My kids really like the mix in’s, some great flavor combinations and they love to take them in their lunch.
These are all awesome ideas to beat summer boredom! I love taking the kids outside and we usually have a 2 week vacation somewhere we’ve never gone to before.
We have been basically living at the pool this summer because it has been so humid and we don’t have much energy to do much else. I am totally ready for Fall!
When it’s super hot we don’t leave the house unless it’s to go somewhere else air conditioned. Going to see a movie is fun and it’s cook, but they do get pricey so we don’t go much.
I LOVE this yogurt! I eat it all the time and I just love the mixins – but I haven’t tried the salted caramel pretzel which is one of my FAVE flavor combos! Will definitely pick it up!
I love yoplait yogurt. I probably eat one every single morning!
It’s so refreshing to be able to make it out to the park. Apart from the last few days, it’s been really nice out!
I really like yogurt when it has some type of crunchy topping to go with it. These packs are very convenient to take along with me when I am on the go.
Wow, that is hot! Freezing them sounds like a great idea. I’d probably enjoy them as a late night snack, so that I don’t have to share with the kids!
I like to think of it as almost half left but it is going fast. My son loves yogurt so those pops could be his new go to snack. Swimming is always the way to go on hot days.
These are all great ideas. We did a lot of staycations when my son was little. We spent a lot of time at the local beaches and community pool.
My kids LOVE Yoplait Summer Mix-ins. We freeze them and use them to keep items in the cooler ice cold on our weekend getaway road trips.
Snacks are always a winner all year round, though the heat in the south sounds ridiculous the horrid weather in England leaves nothing to be desired.
I have seen these mix in around on the internet before. We like our yogurt and this sounds like a great way to brighten up some plain yogurt and enjoy a healthy snack.
These are some great ideas, summer I am sure can get a bit much, I remember finding 6 weeks hard back in my childhood, I love the idea of just taking off to the park.
Thanks for the ideas. Summer break is a fun time for the kids, but they can get super bored after a while. My kids head back to school in a couple of weeks, and they are fully into the “I’m bored” phase. LOL
These are great tips. We’re always on the go, and I think these Mix-Ins look like a great way to power us through our adventures.
Loving all of your ideas. We tend to go to the beach a lot in the summer time. You are right – being by the water is a great way to beat boredom.
