I headed to Walmart to purchase my supplies and check out the new Marvel Avenger’s Augmented Reality app. By using the app at different locations throughout the store, I could answer questions and find out which Super Hero I am. I found the first check point as soon as I walked in the door. By this time my son had taken over the app. I had to be content with finding out his possibilities as an Avenger.
Pizza is a hit with every member of my family. I decided to make it easy on myself and serve a couple of Marketside pizzas from the deli at the party. I added ideas to my menu as I strolled through the store. Captain America punch? Sure! Captain America themed cookies and cupcake sandwiches? Yes! A salad? “No,” declared my son. “Stop trying to make our party healthy!” He was overruled and salad was purchased anyway.
I wanted to watch a movie featuring the Avengers at our party. The Exclusive Blu-Ray/DVD/GrapicNovel Combo Pack won’t be released at Walmart until September 25th, but we browsed through the selection of available Avengers movies. I decided on Thor because I like that movie and he’s some serious eye candy.
The Exclusive New Avengers Graphic Novel |
All good parties need a craft for the kids. I decided to entice them to read their new Graphic novel by making custom Avenger’s bookmarks. I went with a Red, White and Blue theme for Captain America. I used red plates, blue cups, red napkins, white silverware and a red tablecloth, plus 3D Superhero plates. I was pretty pleased with the results.
For our meal I served two types of Pizza and all the fixings; the unwelcome salad, mozzarella sticks, and garlic bread. To go with our theme, I added Captain America cookies, Bomb pops, Captain America cupcake sandwiches and Captain America Punch, which turned out to be a hit.
I had a little trouble with my Captain America Cupcake sandwiches. No matter how much red food coloring I used, my cupcakes turned pink. Next time I will use the paste food coloring.
The nine year old and his new Avengers shirt. |
It turned out to be a great night of family fun. The nine year old got to wear his new Glow in the Dark Avenger’s shirt and pointed out the different Avengers to anyone who would listen. My niece was slightly disgusted because I couldn’t find Avengers apparel for teens. “I want one of those shirts!” she exclaimed. Everyone enjoyed themselves and told me to feel free to invite them over again anytime. They must have enjoyed the food because I didn’t have many leftovers!
Looks like a fun family night! Love the cupcakes 🙂
what a fun night!
OH my gosh…I’m totally with you on Thor. My most favorite Avenger! Can’t wait until the 25th!
Will you adopt me?
What a spread! I love your nephews tshirt! I know my son would be thrilled to have one! Thanks for sharing your Avengers family fun and treats 🙂
Looks like you guys had a great time!
Love the cupcakes, even if they turned out a little pink- what a clever idea! Thor was absolutely the best choice of movie, yes sir-ee, awesome eye candy, for sure. Looks like a fun night!
What a fun night you had! The pizza looks amazing. My daughter wants to see the movie so Santa may be putting that in her stocking!
This movie was fantastic for everyone! Even though it was 95% action, it was interesting for the “non-action” lovers, too. It’s a good one to buy for home. You came up with some really awesome food ideas, love it!
Ohh I loved that you included your entire family; I bet it was a fun get together with lots of great food and an amazing movie.. WOW.. I had never heard of the Avenger APP, I soo have to check it out; sounds like a rainy day fun for the kids while I shop at Walmart. We are super excited for the release of the movie and may have to grab it at Walmart on release day..:0)
