Chocolate Dr Pepper Float

I spent the weekend with my son at college, tailgating and enjoying the festivities of a Saturday football game. Sitting among the rows and rows of tents, smelling delicious food, reminded me of what college football season was all about; fun with family and friends. Another thing it reminded me of was heat! With temperatures soaring into the 90’s, the shade made little difference. That’s when I decided we needed ice cream floats! These floats use only a few ingredients but are a great refresher for game day!

I had plenty of ice cold Dr Pepper® I had picked up at Kroger when purchasing my game day goodies. I hurried to purchase some ice cream and a couple of other sundae toppings and we were in business. This recipe is so easy to make! You can eat it with a spoon or slurp it up with a straw. Either way it’s delicious! I began by adding a scoop of ice cream to each glass. I used vanilla, but chocolate would be good too.
Float step 1

I topped the ice cream with a tablespoon of crushed chocolate sandwich cookies and a teaspoon of chocolate fudge. You could also substitute caramel or chocolate syrup if you like. Next we poured Dr Pepper® over our ice cream mixture. When topped with whipped cream and a cherry, it looked just like an old fashioned ice cream float. Thanks to mom for saving game day!

Add Dr Pepper

Ingredients:
1 scoop ice cream (vanilla or chocolate)
1 tablespoon crushed chocolate sandwich cookies (I used gluten free so everyone could enjoy it)
1 teaspoon chocolate fudge syrup
½ cup Dr Pepper®
whipped topping and cherry, optional

Directions:
Add scoop of ice cream into a glass or cup. Top with the crushed sandwich cookie and chocolate syrup. Pour Dr Pepper® over the ice cream mixture. Top with whipped topping and a cherry, if desired. Serve immediately. Makes one serving.
