Chocolate Peanut Butter Freeze

chocolate

Due to my holiday indulgences I became  too big for my britches literally.  The entire family had started on a low fat, low carb diet Bryan’s doctor recommended for him designed to eliminate cravings and all that good stuff.  Unfortunately  by day six my chocolate craving had not disappeared.  Everyone in the household was getting ready to avoid me  by the time I declared I wanted to “gnaw someone’s arm off.”  Instead of  entering zombie mode, I searched to find something that would be allowed on our diet and still satisfy my chocolate craving and found this Chocolate Peanut Butter Freeze. I did some minor adjustments to the recipe and came up with a smooth creamy drink that will curb the most relentless chocolate craving.   If you are allergic to peanut butter, omit it or add another type of nut butter.  You can also substitute soy or almond milk for the skim milk.

Chocolate Peanut Butter Freeze #glutenfree #lowfat
Prep time:
Total time:
Serves: 1 or 2
A smooth, creamy shake that is gluten free and lower in fat. Perfect for chocolate cravings.
Ingredients
  • 4 tablespoons lowfat (or all natural) peanut butter
  • 1 tablespoon unsweetened cocoa powder
  • 1 cup skim milk
  • 1 teaspoon vanilla
  • 1/4 cup (2 ounces) artificial sweetener (I used baking Equal)
  • 10 ice cubes
Instructions
  1. Add peanut butter, cocoa powder, vanilla, sweetener and 1/2 cup of the milk to a blender. Mix on low until combined. Add the rest of the milk and the ice cubes. Process until completely blended. ( I used smoothie mode.) Serve immediately or place in freezer until ready to serve.)

This recipe will serve two people or one with a desperate chocolate craving.  If you want to be extra indulgent top the freeze with some low or no fat whipped topping and a cherry.   How do you satisfy your cravings when you are dieting?
