One thing I have learned over the years is to expect the unexpected around the holidays, from visitors who drop by because they are in the area to a last minute note from a teacher stating I need to send 2 dozen treats the next day. I’ve adopted the motto of the boy scouts, “Always be prepared.” When I have a spare minute I like to prepare some treats to freeze. That way I can pull them out when I need them. One of my favorite easy treats are these three ingredient peppermint candy canes.
They are super simple to make. Here’s what you need:
These only use chocolate melts and peppermint melts (find them in the baking section) or if you can’t find peppermint melts, use crushed peppermint candy and white chocolate melts. You’ll also need six candy cane cookie cutters. Savings hint: Wait until the after Christmas sale and pick them up at a craft store during their 75% off sale. To make the candy canes, melt the peppermint bark and spread along the bottom of the cookie cutters. Top with melted chocolate bark and freeze until firm.
Now, let’s talk about clean up. It’s my absolute least favorite thing to do! By the time I am through with several dishes in the kitchen I’ve usually recruited the kids to help. Although we’re making memories, we also manage to make a mess. The kids are excellent at dropping food onto the floor, splattering the wall and cabinets mixer when the lid is left off the blender, splattering the counters when using the mixer and splattering food onto the stove. I spend time after they are done cleaning. Here’s my secret to get out of the kitchen faster: the Mr. Clean Magic Eraser. I first discovered these when my daughter’s fifth grade teacher asked for these on a school work day. My daughter came home and informed me, “You won’t believe all the messes these clean up, Mom!”
I use them to wipe up all the spatters in my kitchen and to clean up the gunk on my cookie sheets, save elbow grease when cleaning up casserole dishes, and remove chocolate from my counter tops. Some of my favorite unusual uses are allowing kids to paint on glasses with sharpies, make your favorite Christmas or winter scene, then use the Mr. Clean Magic Eraser to buff off the sharpie or use the Magic Eraser to buff off those annoying sticky tags that come on the bottom of glass.
Have a great use for the Mr. Clean Magic Eraser?
- 1 1/2 cups peppermint melts OR 1 1/2 cups white chocolate melts and 1/2 cup crushed peppermint candies
- 1 1/2 cups milk chocolate melts
- Melt peppermint melts in a microwave safe bowl for one minute. Stir. Microwave 30 seconds more or until melted. Spread mixture approximately 1/2 inch thick inside 6 small candy cane shaped cookie cutters. Melt milk chocolate melts. Spread on top of peppermint melts. Freeze fifteen minutes or until firm.

I never thought of looking for these here! I can’t find regular candy canes and it is a bit depressing!
I love to try out new recipes! This looks like it tastes delicious and looks pretty.
These looks so festive. The kids would enjoy making these.
I always have Magic Erasers on hand! They really are magic… hahaha!
omg these are adorable and chocolate and peppermint is such an awesome combination!!
Oh, I love chocolate and peppermint and there is nothing better than combining the two!
I did not even know they had Magic Eraser for cleaning dishes. I use the original one for cleaning my house – with 5 kids something is always dirty!
Now that sounds and looks like a very festive treat.
I have been using the Magic Erasers since they came out and there is nothing better for getting marks off walls and floors. Absolutely love them!
Oh goodness these sound delicious – what a lovely festive treat 🙂
Ok, yeah I am pretty sure I need those for my kitchen!
Wow, those sound fantastic. They are perfect for Christmas.
