It’s time for another top secret confession. I hate to paint. The smell, the mess, the amount of time required to do a good job are daunting to me. That’s why I hadn’t updated the kids’ bathroom in 10 years. “We really need to paint,” my husband insisted. “Yes, yes,” I would reply, “We will soon.” Clark-Kennsington gave me the boost I needed when they offered me a gallon of paint from their new spring collection. I conferred with my family on the color choices available and then chose one I liked, Apple Tart.
The first thing that I noticed about the Clark+Kensington paint when I opened it was the low odor. Usually paint fumes give me a severe headache and trigger my allergies. I was afraid this would happen since I was painting in a small room but it didn’t. Since I painted when no one was home but me, I waited to see the reaction of the rest of the family when they arrived home. None of them could smell the paint fumes. “Have you started painting yet?” They asked. “I’m done,” I informed them. “But I don’t smell anything!” they said.

Another plus with the Clark+Kensington was that it included paint+primer. I hate to have to put several coats of paint on the wall to cover up the former color or spend time putting primer on the walls before I paint. I used less than half the can of paint to cover my entire bathroom. Granted, I was painting the walls a darker color but the paint went on smoothly with a roller and did a good job covering strange marks on the wall. I did find a black mark approximately two inches in diameter on one wall that took two coats to cover. On the detailed work, like around the trim where I used a small paintbrush, I had to apply two coats as well.

I was able to paint the walls and have everything restored to its rightful place in record time. That’s important to my ADD self. I have a tendency to become bogged down with details or get distracted and wander off, leaving me to explain the half- finished walls later. “Why is one wall a different color than the rest? It’s an accent wall. Didn’t you know they are all the rage these days? What do you mean you thought accent walls should be contrasting colors? It caught your attention, didn’t it?”

I thought the bathroom turned out extremely well, except for an accident involving two nosy cats who left little green paw prints around the room, and am pleased that the walls can be washed clean, a bonus if you have kids and pets. Clark+Kensington paints are available at Ace Hardware and is available for interior and exterior.
Truly great update via that color choice for the bathroom. It can definitely pay to make a bold paint color choice for a small room – neutrals are great but can be sort of humdrum, its a big improvement to see real color in a room.
Lovely! What a difference a fresh coat of paint can make. We so need to get started on painting our rooms, they sorely need it.
You have such a pretty bathroom! Maybe we should try a new coat of paint!
The paint looks great! What a bright cheery color.
That totally warmed up the room – Love the change it makes! Paint is such an easy way to totally redo a room on a budget 🙂
Oh wow, what a difference that paint made – it looks fantastic!
Very pretty. Next week I am doing my room an apple with the bathroom in a similar yellowish shade as yours.
I love the color! It really brighten up your bathroom.
