Control N’ Roll Saves Money On Toilet Tissue

“Who scattered the toilet paper?” I asked when I found a large pile neatly rolled onto the floor beneath the toilet paper holder. I had thought I was over those days since my children were older. When the entire family disavowed having any responsibility, I looked closer and discovered tiny claw marks. My kitten had been having a lovely play day with his new “toy.” This made me realize how much toilet paper we were wasting. It seemed as if almost every day I was changing a roll in one of our bathrooms. My husband complained that it would be a wise investment for us to purchase stock in a toilet paper company.  This is when Control N Roll entered the picture.  During the month of September they invited me to be part of their focus group and test their new product. The premise was simple. I installed the Control N Roll on my toilet paper dispenser or my paper towel dispenser.  Using this device would slow the rolling motion on the dispenser, allowing a smaller amount of paper to be used.  I was promised as much as 50% savings.  While I was skeptical, I am also thrifty and didn’t mind trying something that might help save me money.

When the package arrived, containing two Control N Rolls, I immediately installed one in the kids’ bathroom. The installation process was easy. I just pressed the center out of the Control N Roll and slid it over the toilet paper holder.  It took less than a minute.  It is made of foam, which I didn’t think would last for very long, but has held up in my most heavily trafficked bathroom and on my paper towel holder in the kitchen.  The Control N Roll was tested less than 30 minutes after it was installed.  My son came out of the bathroom and asked, “What’s wrong with the toilet paper? It doesn’t roll off as easily as it did.” My husband had a similar complaint about the paper towel holder.  I admit, I have become a convert since we have been using this. Our toilet paper consumption has decreased as the roll stops after one pull instead of continuing to turn.  I  decided to try an experiment. I removed the Control N Roll in our bathroom and left one in the kids’ bathroom. I discovered that we used more paper in our bathroom after the Control N Roll was removed. I  quickly placed it back on our dispenser.  The one complaint I have with the product is that it can be easily pulled off the dispenser by helpful relatives or houseguests who are doing a good deed by changing the toilet paper roll.

Using their savings calculator and inputting my information, I discovered by using the Control N Roll I could save almost $300 per year, which thrilled my frugal heart. Try it for yourself and see how much you might save.

  18. we use a lot of paper products in our house and one way I save on paper plates and bowls is to serve popcorn or other snacks in coffee filters (the cheap ones work great). The filters act as disposable bowls, so there’s no dishwashing and they are a lot cheaper than paper.

  22. sssshhhhh do NOT tell the big companies… but you are wasting money using paper towels for EVERY spill and/or those little wipes in the cannisters…. keep nice old terry cloth RAGS right there under the sink..USE THEM. Get a good spray bottle from the hardware store, dilute your fav cleaner in it, your lysol, etc.. use THAT sprayer and your rags for wiping… saves a lot of money.
