I’ve heard the phrase “cleanliness is next to godliness” since I was a kid but come on. Do you know how hard it is to keep two toddlers clean? We’ve also been gardening lately. They spend a lot of time moving dirt around my patio, dumping it on each other, and pulling my flowers that they think are weeds. Then, there’s meal time. I’m constantly hearing, “Uh-Oh” which means they’ve dropped something else on themselves or the floor. All in all, their gardening efforts and their eating habits combine to make one big grimy mess.
This is a partnered post with Ivory soap, but all opinions are my own.
Now, I’ll let you in on a little secret; how to get toddlers into the bathtub. This used to be quite a process. While one screamed, “no bath!” the other screamed, “uh-huh! Bath! Bath!” Those two are never in sync. Then, one day we stumbled onto two tricks to get them into the bathtub. They’re simple and they’ve worked time after time.
It’s always a good time to paint!
Secret #1. Boats (or bath toys of your child’s choosing.) I keep a supply of toy boats in the closet. When I ask, “Do you want a bath?” The answer is always “no.” When I ask, “Do you want to play with boats?” They always answer, “Uh-huh. Boats! Boats!” It’s all in the way the question is worded.
Secret #2. Give them their own bar of soap. Seriously, it works. We use Ivory bar soap because it’s gentle and (the original formula) is free from dyes and perfumes. This is especially important with toddlers who get rashes from any scented product! It’s gentle enough for their skin and it’s a proven brand that’s been around for over 130 years. They created the first 99.4% pure soap and the original bar is free of perfumes and dyes so the entire family can use it with no problems. The kids like to use the soap to wash themselves and I’m happy to encourage them.
And, Ivory is not just for kids. Besides bath time, I use Ivory to
*Clean Makeup Brushes—just place a little Ivory Clean and Gentle body wash on the brushes and gently scrub with your fingers. Rinse the brushes well and allow to air dry. (Their original body wash now has a new gentle formula and is free of perfumes and dyes!)
*Use for emergency stain removal. I’ve been on trips when I’ve spilled something on my clothing and couldn’t launder it immediately. I’ve used a little Ivory soap as a quick and easy way to get rid of stains. It’s easy to keep a bar in an airtight plastic bag in my suitcase.
Outside time is fun, but they get dirty fast!
*Get rid of squeaks! No one likes the squeaking and creaking sound doors make. If that’ a problem, rub Ivory over the door hinges to make the sound go away.
Let’s face it. No one wants to stress over the little problems. Ivory Soap makes my life easier so I can enjoy those everyday moments with clean kids.
The best times are outside!

We used to use Ivory soap back in the day. Now that we have a newborn, I can already foresee that we will be keeping up with lots of mess. Awesome tips and very timely for us too.
I’ve always used Ivory soap and not because it floats, I don’t bathe in a river where that would be helpful, lol. It was and still is the only soap that didn’t break my face out when going thru puberty.
These are some really handy tips. I know that bath time has been a struggle for many parents!
Oh my word bath toys are a life saver. It can be hard to get them out after that!
Lately I’ve been using ivory bar soap. Even the all natural stuff started irritating my skin so I went back to what my parents used interchangeably childhood. It worked.
I miss those days when it is bath time for the kids. Although my kids never had problem going into the bathtub.
I have always loved Ivory soap. I saw these in Target recently, and wondered how well they worked. I’ll have to pick them up next time.
Kids getting dirty is so normal especially during spring and summer. They should have their own soap because they do have delicate skin. Ivory can really be a good soap for kids. – Franc
I haven’t heard that phrase in years, I’m sure it was something my Gran used to say when I was younger. Ivory sounds like a really amazing soap – I love you can use it for all sort of things, definitely need some for my makeup brushes.
Door squeaks are the worst! Soap definitely helps!
I have heard the cleanliness phrase a good number of times over the years and never bought into it. I remember seeing Ivory at my Grandma’s when i was younger, it’s been around a long time.
I haven’t used Ivory soap in years and you brought back such great memories of using Ivory when I was growing up. It’s the only soap that floats! I’m going to grab a bar when I go grocery shopping today. I’ve always loved the clean scent!
It is hard to keep kids clean, that’s for sure. Ivory is a great brand that can help! Luckily my kids don’t mind taking showers.
If the kids were really dirty we would hose them off outside before taking them in the house. Bath toys and good bathing products is key to clean happy kids
