Easy Apple Turnovers Recipe

I am all about finding shortcuts in the kitchen to make my life easier. We all know that dishes taste delicious when they are homemade, but some days time is short. After I’ve spent a long day at work, finished chores, and spent time with the kids, complicated recipes are the last thing on my mind. Of course, one of Bryan’s favorite desserts is apple turnovers.  I don’t mind making them from scratch, but homemade pastry and homemade apple pie filling require an ample amount of time to prepare.  That’s why I was thrilled when I found this Easy Apple Turnovers recipe in a local magazine years ago.

Easy Apple Turnovers Recipe

This is what I call my “cheater turnovers.” They only require four ingredients that I can keep on hand at all times.  Prep time is minimal and they always turn out light and flaky.  Sometimes I get fancy and make them into Cream Cheese Apple Turnovers. No matter how I make them they disappear in minutes after I remove them from the oven.

Here’s what you need to make them:

1 (8 ounces) container refrigerated crescent rolls
1 (21 ounces) can apple pie filling
1/2 cup confectioners sugar
2 to 3 tablespoons milk

Here’s how to make them:

1. Preheat the oven to 350 degrees.
2. Divide the crescent rolls into 8 triangles.
3.  Place 2 tablespoons apple pie filling on top of 4 of the crescent rolls.
4. Cover the apple topped crescent roll with one of the reserved crescent rolls.
5. Crimp edges of the crescent rolls together to close. Make sure that the crescent rolls are completely sealed.
6. Place the crescent rolls on a greased baking sheet. Place into the preheated oven and bake 15 minutes or until rolls are brown and flaky.
7. In a small bowl, mix powdered sugar and milk. Stir until the mixture is spoonable consistency.
8.   Remove the crescent rolls from the oven. Immediately drizzle powdered sugar mixture over the pastries. Makes four.
