Easy Mason Jar Candy Christmas Gifts

It’s the holiday season, which always makes me feel I should be creating homemade presents and cute craft items.  I’m not sure why I pick the busiest time of the year to do this. Maybe it’s to relive the Christmas memories of my childhood when all the women in the family made mounds of homemade Christmas goodies to give as gifts. These days I try to keep my crafts simple. These easy Mason Jar Candy Christmas Gifts are a snap to make and use dollar store materials. They’re great to use as a centerpiece before giving them as favors at holiday parties.

You’ll only need a few items to make these jars. I started with some gummy candy lollipops I found in Christmas shapes. Each sucker had four candies which I separated and removed from the lollipop sticks. I also used mason jars in various sizes, nonpareil candy in Christmas colors, and Christmas washi tape. If you can’t find Christmas nonpareil candies, you can use Christmas sprinkles.

For some of my candy Christmas gifts, I used one half of a DIY clear Christmas ornament to give the gifts a pretty snowglobe look. The only other item you might need is a small amount of prepared frosting.

Here’s how to make them

1. Begin with small mason jars. I used 4-ounce mason jars with “wide mouth” tops and 4-ounce apothecary jars. Tip: Use the clear jars with no raised patterns on the outside.
2. Place one gummy Christmas candy in the center of the jar. You might need to use a dab of frosting spread across the bottom of the candy to hold it into place.
3. Carefully place sprinkles around the candy.
4. Place the lid on the jar or, if using mason jars with wide mouth lids, add 1/2 of the clear Christmas ornament to the top of the jar.
5. Using a piece of washi tape, place a strip around the point where the lid and jar meet.

To make an easy centerpiece, just place them in the middle of your table and surround them with greenery or place them on small wooden blocks (or wooden coasters) and surround them with pinecones.
