Easy Peanut Butter “Acorn” Treats Recipe

Fall is officially here in our area. The temperatures have dropped from highs in the 90’s last week and are expected to fall into the 60’s later this week. Brrrr. When the temperature begins to drop, I bring out the fall decor and start preparing fall treats. What better way to celebrate the dip in temperature than with cute fall food? Acorns are such a big part of fall decor that I decided the acorn theme could extend to cooking as well. A couple of weeks ago I made easy acorn doughnuts. They were so cute I decided to make a new acorn recipe; these Easy Peanut Butter Acorn Treats.

Easy Peanut Butter Acorn Treats

I love these snacks because they come together so quickly. They only contain four easy to find ingredients too. That means I can make a batch for an entire class of kids in around 15 minutes. There’s no baking time, no setting or freezing time, just quick treats kids will enjoy.
Easy Peanut Butter Acorn Treats

Here’s what you need to make them:

For 30 “acorns”
30 vanilla wafers
30 peanut butter chips (find them in the baking aisle with the chocolate chips)
30 chocolate kisses (I used Hershey’s.)
1/2 cup peanut butter

Here’s how to make them:

Step 1: Turn vanilla wafers so flat side is facing up.
Step 2: Cover the bottom of each candy kiss with a small amount of peanut butter. Use enough to cover the entire bottom-approximately 1/4 teaspoon per kiss.
Step 3: Attach the candy kiss to the vanilla wafer.
Step 4: Spread a dab of peanut butter onto the bottom of a peanut butter chip.
Step 5: Attach the peanut butter chip to the top of the vanilla wafer.

Voila! You’re done. Each peasy. This easy peanut butter acorn treats recipe is a great “beginning cooking lesson” for kids. They can assemble the treats themselves. Give them a butter knife or spoon to spread the peanut butter. Bonus-kids love to eat and share what they cook.

*If you are allergic to peanuts, almond butter or sunflower butter can be substituted. Use a chocolate chip as a topper instead of the peanut butter chip.
