When the weather outside is too cold, dark and gloomy to be outdoors, it’s time to find activities to do indoors with the kids. If the kids are bored and need something creative to do, why not have a family movie afternoon and then try some fun activities? I’ve included some of the latest releases from Shout Factory and a fun idea for each movie. Why not start by making these fun animal themed snacks? If the kids won’t eat fruit, they’ll probably be tempted by these cute animal shaped snacks that look like puppies.
Here’s how you make them: These start with a can of pears! Place one pear half on a plate. Add blueberries for the eyes, banana strips for the ears and a grape for a nose. You can add fruit dip for picky eaters. The kids can help assemble them too!
Pound Puppies: Puppy Love will be released February 3rd, and has five fur filled adventures with special voice guest stars like Betty White and Jim Parsons. Since I totally agree with their philosophy, “A pup for every person and a person for every pup,” I love to watch the adventures where the pups show undying love for others. Join the fearless leader, Lucky, and his crew (Niblet, Cookie, Squirt and Strudel) as they make it their mission to find homes for lonely dogs… and dogs for lonely humans!
The Adventures of Chuck and Friends: Rev Your Engines was released on January 13th and features ten new episodes of Chuck and his friends, Digger, Handy, Rowdy, Biggs, Boomer and Flip, as they learn how to deal with bullies, problems with their friends and more. Based on the Tonka line of toy trucks, Chuck and his friends will have the little ones singing along as they learn valuable life lessons. This DVD also includes a bonus sing along. For a fun snack to eat while viewing, make this homemade Moose Munch.
Transformers Rescue Bots: Jurassic Adventure will be released February 10th and has six episodes featuring Chase, Heatwave, Blades, Boulder and the Burns family as they try to solve new mysteries in their happy town of Griffin Rock. They’ll be confronting ghosts, chasing gremlins, searching for the legendary Maine Ridge Monster and more. Will they have the sleuthing skills needed to do the job? Use this homemade play dough to make your own transformers shapes.
What are your favorite indoor winter day activities with the kids?
