Family Movie Night with the Little Mermaid Diamond Edition

“Under the sea, under the sea, darling it’s better, down where it’s wetter, take it from me.” My daughter sang this over and over when she was a little girl. That’s why I knew we had to have a family movie night to celebrate the release of the Diamond Edition of Little Mermaid on October 1st. The Diamond edition contains a new state of the art digitally restored Blu-Ray, DVD and Digital copy of the classic film, along with three hours of bonus features. Personally, I can’t wait to see the kids sing along with Crab-E-OKE. Other bonus features include the “Part of Your World” music video by Carly Tae Jepsen, a never before seen deleted character, Harold the Mermaid, Part of her world: Jodi Benson’s Voyage to the new Fantasyland and a look behind the scenes with some of Disney’s top animators.



Want to have a fun Under the Sea movie night adventure with Ariel and her pals? I’ve found some fun ideas to help create a “Crab-tastic” evening. Start with some sugar cookies. Top one with blue frosting. Take another cookie and place a mini marshmallow on the edge of the cookie. Place the blue frosted cookie on top of the marshmallow. Viola! Instant clam shells cookies. Add some gold fish crackers served in blue cupcake holders and individual blue gelatins squares with gummy fish inside and you’re ready to party. If you are crafty and have time, you can design marshmallow crispy treats in the shape of sand castles.

If you want to extend the fun after the movie and sneak in a little education, make seashells from play dough and finish the evening with a short book about sea animals. This is a fun way to make family memories that children will remember long after that night.
