If you are like me there are some nights you just don’t want to cook. Maybe it’s been a busy day filled with errands or maybe I am just not in the mood. Whatever. Sometimes I just need a treat. While I am a fan of upscale dining, sometimes it is nice to have a fun filled family meal where no one has to worry about dirty looks from fellow patrons if a straw or napkin falls on the floor. Not that this would ever happen in our family. Insert sarcastic eye roll here.

I first heard about Smashburger during my trip to Houston, but it turns out they have locations a lot closer to me, like in Atlanta. Their menu boasts handcrafted burgers that are smashed, seared and seasoned to order, using their fresh, never frozen 100% Certified Angus Beef®, Smashfries hand-tossed with garlic, rosemary and olive oil and handspun Häagen-Dazs® shakes, served in a frosted glass. You can even create your own smashburger from their long list of ingredients beginning with an artisan bun, toppings and sauces of choice and a variety of cheese. (For anyone who doesn’t care for burgers, they also serve chicken, veggie burgers, salads and hot dogs.)

To be honest, although I like a good burger every now and then, my focus is on shakes. I usually wind up handing my burger and fries to a family member and enjoying the cool, creaminess of a rich, thick shake. Did I mention that Smashburger has regular and premium shakes? I couldn’t decide which shake I wanted to try—Oreo, Nutterbutter or Butterfinger. Then, I realized they had a new seasonal flavor—Peanut Butter and Jelly. Who could pass this up?

I’ve convinced Bryan that the two of us need to take a day trip to Atlanta and enjoy Smashburger together. I’ve told him all about the joys of trying a Smashburger and having some of their side dishes. They make Sweet Potato smash fries too.
