Get Hands On with Touch Companies Spa

I received a complementary visit to Touch Companies Spa thanks to a forum I attended for Golden Heritage Foods. I was under no obligation to post a review and all opinions are my own.

Today is Mother’s Day, the time to celebrate mom for all the times she sat up with you in the middle of the night when you were sick, the times she whipped up her special cupcakes for the school bake sale at the last minute, and all those little unmentioned things that moms do that get overlooked during the year. What’s the one thing most Moms don’t get? The opportunity to be pampered and have time to themselves.  You’re welcome, kids. A quick glance at my fingernails lets people know I barely have time to file them, much less paint them. Naturally, when I was offered a chance to visit Touch Companies Spa and Wellness Center during a recent trip to Chicago for a pedicure and massage, I couldn’t get into the shuttle bus fast enough. Me time? Pure bliss.

Located one mile northeast of O’Hare airport in the Rosemont Health and Fitness center, the spa is a little hard to find and has a nondescript outside. The driver had some difficulty finding the spa, but once we arrived we were immediately greeted by one of the owners, Cassandra Myers, who offered us our choice of beverages and pastries. While chatting with the owner, I was impressed with her dedication. The employees received extensive training, worked with medical massage, and shared a passion for their business, calling it “a career and not a job.” Several of the employees are related and there is a definite family atmosphere.

Tip: If you are visiting Chicago, ask the owners to recommend restaurants. They have the inside scoop.

I began my experience with the Spa Pedicure. Why I had not heard of this before? It began with a relaxing soak in jets of warm water, followed by a pedicure and exfoliating scrub, cooling foot and leg mask with a hot towel wrap, and extended lotion massage and ended with a professional polish application. By the time I was done my feet looked better and felt softer than they had in ages and I was so relaxed I almost feel asleep.

Now, follow this with an one hour massage. It’s like heaven. Before I began the massage artist asked if I had any particular area I where I wanted or needed her to concentrate. I told her my neck had been aching and asked if she could focus there. When my hour was over my neck felt better and my entire body was relaxed. I wasn’t sure how I would make it through the meetings that afternoon without falling asleep, but it was totally worth it.

Tip: Ask about childcare. It’s only $4 an hour, making it a treat for your wallet as well.

I plan to visit Chicago again for Blogher this summer and I’m hoping I can squeeze in a quick visit to Touch Companies Spa. Hint, Hint, kids–make mom’s day with a gift certificate.

  15. This spa looks really nice. I would love to go there for pampering. I love seeing photos of the rooms from someone that actually visited because sometimes they have photos on websites and then you go there and the photo was obviously a special occasion and it looks nothing like that. This looks really cool.

  16. That looks like a divine experience! I really need a day at the spa!

  17. There is nothing more relaxing then going and pampering yourself. I love that they also have child care. That would make it so easy to treat yourself without having to worry about the extra expense of having a sitter. Thanks for the review.
