Get Your Game

I have  been a UGA football fan since high school. GO DAWGS!!  While not as devoted as several of our friends who hold season passes, or who own a descendant of the original Uga, the bulldog mascot, we still enjoy watching the games. The kids share in my excitement and have enjoyed playing as their favorite collegiate team on their NCAA football video games. Although I have caught them attempting to play as other teams, like the Florida Gators or the University of Alabama, I was able to quickly steer them back onto the UGA path.  When I learned  NCAA13 would be released June 10th, I knew the kids would jump at the chance to check out all the new features available, such as  Dynamic Dynasty, which allows recruiting grades to change week by week based on performance in the Dynasty mode.

Other highlights include Reaction Time, a feature that slows down game play during key moments, allowing more time to sense opportunities, an All New Passing Game with enhanced receiver control, and my personal favorite, the Heisman Challenge. The kids can utilize the skills of any of ten former Heisman trophy winners for their team, Herschel Walker-former UGA running back, hint, hint, and try to win the trophy again.

We’re creating a coach for our team.
I’m always on the lookout to rack up “Awesome Mom Points” to offset all the not so great things I do, like pushing healthy food and exercise or trying to add educational activities to our outings.  Before going to Walmart to purchase the game, I told my son I had a surprise for him. He would be a football hero with his face printed on the cover of #NCAAFootball13.

I used the NCAAFootball13 You’re Covered  Facebook App from EA Sports to choose a favorite team, Georgia, naturally, and upload his photo onto the cover. After these steps were completed I could either send the cover to be printed at Walmart or print the cover at home.

The app walked me through each step, making the process quick and painless. Most of my time was spent trying to find a photo that would work.

Here he is, looking proud, holding the finished copy.

We decided to host a family game night, complete with snacks, to celebrate. My suggestion of suitable snacks, mini quiche, a cheese tray and a salad, was meet by looks of disgust and disdain. Their incredulous response, “What kind of game night parties do you attend, Mom?” brought me back to my senses. We purchased cheese sticks, potato chips and dip, fries, buffalo chicken wings and finished with cupcakes.

Our #cbias Family Football game night was a roaring success!

Notice the concentration while thinking he could beat his mom! (Unfortunately for me and my bad football skills, he could.)
