Gluten-Free Brownies Recipe

Brownies

This is our second gluten free holiday season. While the rest of us are munching on traditional goodies, my daughter is missing out. We wanted to share the joy and make treats she would be able to eat so we whipped up a batch of brownies using the 3D Holiday Ornament pan.  This pan is nonstick and the brownies turned out beautifully to be gluten free. I’ve noticed these foods are much drier and crumbly, so it was a pleasant surprise when they held together.  The brownies popped right out, thanks to the nonstick coating, and cleaning the pan was easy; no scrubbing or scraping needed. We decorated them with plain vanilla frosting using our cake decorator bag, and added blue, pink and yellow colored sprinkles to give them pizzazz.  If you are using the recipe to make brownies to be cut into bars add some mix ins like chopped nuts, chopped peanut butter cups or mini chocolate candies. If you want to add a festive touch for the holidays add a half cup crushed peppermint.

An easy gluten free brownie mix that can have extra goodies added in to create a tempting new taste.
Ingredients
  • 1/2 cup gluten-free all purpose flour blend
  • 1/2 cup unsweetened cocoa powder
  • 1/4 teaspoon gluten-free baking powder
  • 1/4 teaspoon salt
  • 3/4 cup sugar
  • 1/2 cup softened unsalted butter (1 stick)
  • 2 large eggs
  • 1 teaspoon vanilla extract
Instructions
  1. Mix flour blend, cocoa powder, baking powder, salt and sugar together. Mix butter and eggs into the batter until creamy. Blend in vanilla. Pour into a greased 8″ by 8″ baking dish and place in preheated 350 degree oven. Bake for 25 minutes or until a knife inserted into the center comes out clean.

Some tips on making the brownies:
The icing bag comes with five tips. Use the largest tip to add filling to the brownies when you remove them from the molds. This will help hold them together.
Gluten free brownie mix can expand while cooking.  Fill the bottom of the 3D pan to the top of each ornament and spread the batter evenly so it does not rise above the top.
Let the brownies cool completely before decorating.

  8. I’ve never decorated our brownies before. I always just leave them plain or frost the entire top with chocolate frosting. I love how cute yours turned out though so I may have to try it. Also, I love all of your add-in ideas. Will have to try those too!

  9. Thankfully I do not HAVE to eat gluten free–I just have to worry about sugar and low carb (diabetic). What I have found is that just because something is gluten free does not mean it is good for diabetics! Now, that being said, it does not mean I might not try to make these delicious looking brownies sugar free!!
