Peanut Butter and chocolate have always been one of my favorite flavor combinations. When we made a church cookbook a few years ago I submitted so many dessert recipes with peanut butter and chocolate that someone asked if that was all we ate. Answer: No. While searching for a tasty bread recipe for a tea party I was hosting I found a recipe for Peanut Butter Bread that looked amazing. Naturally, I could not leave the recipe alone but adapted it to suit my taste, making it double chocolate peanut butter bread with the addition of chocolate peanut butter and chopped peanut butter cups. Plus, I made it gluten free so my daughter could have some too. I couldn’t believe how good it tasted. We couldn’t tell it was gluten free, except that it was more crumbly than regular bread.
- 1 cup sugar
- 1/2 cup butter, softened
- 2 eggs
- 1 cup milk
- 2 cups gluten free baking mix
- 1/4 cup chocolate peanut butter
- 2/3 cup peanut butter cups, chopped
- 1/4 cup unsweetened cocoa powder
- 2/3 cup milk chocolate chips
- Topping:
- 1/2 cup peanut butter (plain or chocolate flavored)
- 1.2 cup chopped peanut butter cups
- Preheat the oven to 350 degrees. Beat the butter and sugar in a large bowl until the mixture is smooth and creamy. Add eggs and beat until combined. Slowly add milk, mix well. Mix together the flour, baking powder, baking soda, and salt. Slowly add this mixture to butter mixture, beating well after each addition.
- To Make Swirled Bread: Separate the batter into two different bowls, adding 1/3 of the batter into one bowl and 2/3 into another bowl. In the bowl with 1/3 of the batter, blend in the chocolate peanut butter until combined. Then gently stir in the chopped peanut butter cups. In the bowl with 2/3 of the batter, add in the cocoa powder and chocolate chips until combined. Pour half of the chocolate batter into a greased loaf pan or four mini loaf pans. Add the peanut butter batter to cover the chocolate batter. Add the rest of the chocolate batter to top of the peanut butter batter. Bake for 50-60 minutes or until a toothpick inserted in the center comes out clean. Cool for 20 minutes then remove the bread from the bread pan or the four bread pam. .
- Heat the 1/2 cup peanut butter or chocolate peanut butter in the microwave for 30 seconds and spread on top of the bread . Sprinkle the chopped peanut butter cups on top of the peanut butter.mixture.
I wanted to make mini loaves I could serve at my tea party so I used the nonstick 4 pack mini loaf pan from Good Cook to prepare my loaves. This nonstick pan makes petite loaves that are perfect for gift giving during the holiday season and the nonstick coating makes clean up a breeze. To give these loaves as presents, you can wrap them without frosting in a festive paper like the white snowflake parchment paper or add the frosting and present it in a small cookie box.

I love that these are gluten free and that they contain peanut butter. They look really good and I love the mini pans because I could see using them to make other treats as well.
This looks delicious. I love peanut butter and chocolate too. I have never seen those little mini pans where you can make 4 at a time. I might just have to get one of those. I think the recipe that I make every year that people always want to make sure I have at a party is my spinach dip.
My kids would love this but I won’t be able to eat it since I’m allergic to nuts. It does look yummy though.

I would have no choice but to make this with a sugar substitute–just because something is gluten free does not mean it is okay for diabetics to eat it! It looks so darn good!! Want a loaf right now!!
