Gluten Free Fridays 10

It’s the weekend! For most of us, that means days off, time with our families, and of course—Gluten Free Friday! If you’re new here, let me get you up to speed. Every Friday we share five of our favorite gluten free brands, who we have partnered with to try out samples and let you know what we think. Gluten free and allergy friendly brands can be a little bit of a minefield to navigate, so we’re bringing you our honest opinions on the latest and greatest in gluten free products and brands. Hopefully this will make your introduction to gluten or allergen free diets easier than mine was—yeah, I cried—and will help you branch out beyond the brands you know and trust. Without further ado, I bring you Gluten Free Friday!

1. Pure Organic makes bars and fruit snacks that are certified gluten free and kosher. Even better for us, they’re also made without soy and dairy! That means our whole family can enjoy them. We received the Fruit & Nut Bar, Fruit Sandwiches, and Fruit and Veggie Strips for our family to test out. The Fruit & Nut Bars are chewy bars made with fruits, nuts, and various spices. I like the chocolate brownie bar the best, but my husband enjoyed the wild blueberry bar. The Fruit Sandwiches are 3 layer gummy fruit snacks that come in Strawberry & Banana and Pineapple & Passionfruit flavors. The Fruit & Veggie strips are made of organic fruit and veggie purees and juices. The Fruit & Veggie Strips and the Fruit Sandwiches are nut free and are made in a peanut free facility.
Contains: The Fruit & Nut Bars contain nuts and peanuts.
Good for: snacking, kids, on the go, school lunch

2. Crunchies sells ten varieties of freeze-dried fruits and veggies. Although there are lots of freeze-dried fruits available on the market, Crunchies is the only brand that owns their own supply chain. That means that your fruits (and vegetables) are uniquely traceable. I’m all about transparency when it comes to food, so I loved being able to trace my freeze-dried strawberry back to a specific region in Chile. Cool! Crunchies is literally just fruit- nothing else- and they’re certified gluten free. I like the strawberries as a topping for yogurt.
Contains: no top 8 allergens
Good for: snacking, on the go, kids, making your own fruit and trail mixes

3. Sue Bee Honey is 100% pure American honey. Sue Bee has nearly 300 beekeepers around the USA, including some in my home state! I use honey a lot in my tea, so I can be a little bit of a honey snob. I was glad to see that Sue Bee Honey is America’s Number 1 recommended honey brand, which made me feel better about swapping out my usual honey for it. I wasn’t disappointed. It worked in everything from banana bread to afternoon tea! (If you’re reading this and thinking “doesn’t all honey taste the same?” then you are sadly mistaken.) Remember not to store your honey in the fridge or it will granulate, and you don’t want that! Sue Bee Honey is filtered (the pollen is removed) to reduce the risk of granulation at room temperature. We use it to make muffins, breads, all sorts of baked goods, lemonade and more.
Contains: no top 8 allergens
Good for: baking, cooking, sweetening, in tea

4. Free For All Kitchen makes gluten free crackers and brownie thins. I eat more crackers than I probably should, especially in cold weather when you just want to curl up with a bowl of soup. That means I have pretty high standards for crackers. These were some of the best I’ve had. Made with a blend of cassava flour and five ancient grains, these cookies were crisp without the tooth-breaking hardness that I’ve seen in some other gluten free crackers. They didn’t taste like laminated cardboard. Actually, they tasted like….real crackers. The Brownie Thins were also tasty.
Contains: Milk
Good for: snacking, coating, cooking/baking, paired with soups or salad, dipping

5. Frontier Bites are bite size snack bars made with only 8 ingredients. They are refined sugar free, and contain 110 calories or less per serving. Available in 5 flavors, these mini granola bars are also soy and dairy free. My mom is a granola fan, so I let her try these. They’re slightly sweet, and a healthy alternative to a lot of other granola bars on the market!
Contains: nuts
Good for: snacking, on the go
