Welcome back to Gluten Free Fridays! In case You missed our inaugural post last week, Gluten Free Fridays is a feature here on Simply Southern Mom bringing you the latest and greatest things in gluten and allergen free foods. Finding out you have food allergies or Celiac disease can be difficult. You have to adjust to a whole new way of eating! Plus, let’s face it: some allergen friendly foods just plain don’t taste good. When I was diagnosed with Celiac disease, I remember eating a gluten free waffle and crying because it was just. so. bad.
Luckily, allergen free foods have come a long way since I was diagnosed in 2012. It seems like every time you turn around, there’s a new and offering gluten free, nut free, dairy free, or other allergy friendly foods. Today, we’ve picked five of our favorite brands to showcase. Let’s get started!
1.Cello Whisps are gluten free “Whisps” made entirely out of cheese. You can use them as crackers, croutons, or just eat them as is. They’re made out of 100% pure cheese, and come in both cheddar and Parmesan flavors. Cello Whisps are all natural, free of artificial colors and flavors, and wheat and gluten free. Because they’re made of cheese, they’re an excellent source of both protein and calcium! If the cold hard facts haven’t sold on you Cello Whisps, the taste will. I like to use the Parmesan flavor as croutons in a Caesar salad, and the cheddar ones feel right at home on top of a bowl of tomato soup. You may want to keep these hidden from yourself, because it’s way too easy to eat the whole bag in one serving. We love these and always keep a bag of these on hand. They’re so good.
Contains: Dairy
Good For: Snacking, Croutons, Appetizers, great for topping soup!
2. Boke Bowl If you live in Portland, Oregon, you may be familiar with Boke Bowl. What started as a monthly pop-up is now a thriving ramen shop. If you’re like us, and can’t get to Portland, you probably feel like you’re missing out right about now. Don’t worry though. One of the things Boke Bowl is known for are their hot sauces: Hot Boke All-Purpose Hot Sauce and Cry Baby Extra Hot Hot Sauce. We received a sample of both these sauces to try, which made the spice lover in me happy. I’ve used the all-purpose sauce on chicken salad, but it would go good on just about anything. The Cry Baby Sauce was warm to me, but not unbearable. Both are great to have on hand if you’re the type of person who puts hot sauce on anything from your omelette to your potato chips. *The sauces can be a little hot and spicy. If you prefer mild sauces try a dash before adding a lot to your plate!
Contains: Free of top 8 Allergens!
Good For: Spice Lovers, Taco Night, Boke Bowl Fans
3. Savorfull Do you have dietary restrictions? Do you still need to snack? Then Savorfull is for you. On Savorfull, you can shop either for yourself or for your business! We received a bag full of tasty gluten free treats ranging from vegan mushroom flavored chips to protein bars. Because there was so much goodness in one bag, we did an (un-bagging) on the Simply Southern Mom Facebook page!
Contains: Savorfull has options for most major dietary restrictions.
Good For: Families, School or Work Lunch Options, Small Businesses, Teams, In-Person Allergy Support Groups

4. Lawless Jerky I’m a fan of beef jerky. Unfortunately, beef jerky is not always a fan of me! Many brands contain gluten, which means I can’t eat them. Now, thanks to Lawless Jerky, I can eat beef jerky again! Lawless Jerky is made with grass fed beef and no artificial additives or preservatives. We received the honey chipotle and mango habanero flavors to sample. Both flavors were a hit with everyone in the family, including people who normally don’t like jerky as much as others. Our favorite was the honey chipotle. Both are a little spicy, although not too much so, but if you are a person who doesn’t like hot and spicy food, sample a bite first.
Contains: Some flavors contain soy and fish. Pho flavor contains wheat.
Good For: snacking, on the go, hiking
5. Rachel Pauls Happy Bars
My mom recently realized she needs to eat Low FODMAP. I don’t know much at all about the low FODMAP diet, except that a lot of my friends who are on it complain about how boring it is. While I was sitting around one morning, drinking coffee and munching my Rachel Pauls Food Happy Bar, I noticed a “low FODMAP” label on the packaging. What? These bars are Low FODMAP, gluten free, and non-gmo. Plus, they’re pretty darn tasty. The bars come in four flavors, orange chocolate ecstasy, peanut chocolate euphoria, my personal favorite, chocolate chip delight and peanut maple pleasure.
Contains: Peanuts, Tree Nuts. May contain egg, milk, and soy.
Good For: On the go, Breakfast Skippers, People with IBS, anyone on a Low FODMAP Diet. Also good crumbled and used as a topping for lowfat vanilla yogurt!

We are not a gluten free family, but so many of these snacks sound super tasty! That jerky looks especially amazing.
These all sound amazing, but the Cello Whisps have my name written all over them. You can never go wrong with cheese!
I am just happy to hear that ‘Gluten Free’ does NOT mean giving up hot sauce, I love my spicy foods and hot sauce! 🙂

Yay! I’m gluten-free as well (allergic to wheat) so it’s nice to see someone posting about gluten-free friendly foods. 🙂 I love cheese crisps by the way, sometimes it can be so hard to crunch gf snacks that taste good, but I love those!
Those Cello Whisps are so good! We keep them on hand all the time.
I thoroughly enjoy our gluten free posts. I feel better when I don’t have gluten in my diet, but it can be hard to find foods that don’t taste awful. Your picks are always great.
I like the idea of having specific days for gluten-free meals or vegetarian days. I didn’t realize there were so many products that were gluten-free! Those Beanitos Bean Chips seem delicious.
My youngest is gluten-free so I love seeing what’s out there that we might not have seen yet. Those Cello Whisps sound yummy!

Nice to see all the new products arriving on the grocery shelves seems to be taking over the world. Always still be sure to read the labels to see what truly made of.

I really love all these great gluten free options you keep sharing with us. Before you started sharing these, I always thought of gluten-free as devoid of flavor.
