Gluten Free Fridays 8

Hey everyone! Welcome back to Gluten Free Friday! If you’re joining for the first time, let me get you up to speed: when I was first diagnosed with celiac disease, the gluten free pre-packaged food was so bad it made me cry. Luckily, gluten and allergy free foods have come a long way since 2012. Still, it can be hard to decide what to buy and what’s a bust. Here at Gluten Free Friday, we’ve partnered with different brands to bring you the latest and greatest in gluten and allergen free foods. Although we received samples, we’re bringing you our honest opinions. Yep, we’re trying it so you don’t have to! So what are we featuring this week?
Gluten Free Fridays 2

1. Gimbal’s Fine Candies are gourmet allergen free candies. Gimbal’s candies are free of gluten, egg, dairy, soy, peanut, and tree nuts! Gimbal’s makes jelly beans, sour jelly beans, Cherry and cinnamon lover’s candies, and licorice scotties. Gimbal’s also has seasonal specialities. I love cherry flavored candy, so I was most excited to see the Cherry Lover’s Candy Assortment! Although I wasn’t a fan of the chocolate covered cherry flavored candy in the bag, it was easy enough to pick that particular flavor out. (Especially since its darker than the rest!) *A Note from Pam: The Cinnamon Lover’s are so good. That bag was mine. 🙂

Contains: Top 8 free
Good for: Easter, snacking, special occasions, decorating cupcakes and other baked goods.

2. Crunchmaster Crackers
are gluten free crackers that are whole grain and low in sodium. So many crispy, crunchy snacks can be high in sodium, so this is a good option for people needing to keep their blood pressure under control! Crunchmaster crackers come in a variety of flavors. My favorite is the Rosemary and Olive Oil MultiSeed cracker! I like them with hummus or alongside a salad.
Contains: varies by product, dairy-free/vegan products are available.
Good for: snacking, packed lunches, with dips, for parties, baking/cooking

3. Harvest Stone Crackers are certified gluten free and certified organic. They’re also non-GMO. More importantly, they taste great! If crackers aren’t your thing but you miss the snack and party mixes of your past, look no further than Harvest Stone. I polished off the Cheese Crispy Mix in a day or two!
Contains: varies by product.
Good for: snacking, parties, packed lunches, crumbled on top of casseroles.

4. Crux Toasters are high-quality toasters. If you share a kitchen with gluten-eaters, you know how important having your own utensils and appliances can be to prevent cross-contamination. Our Crux toaster has a gluten-free setting, a bagel setting, and offers several shades of browning. Gluten free bread can be hard to toast because it’s denser and drier than regular bread. The Crux toaster knocked out gluten free bagels, bread, and even gluten free waffles! Nothing was burnt, and nothing was raw in the middle. I seriously use it every morning. This toaster changed my life– or at least my breakfast.
Good for: Dorm or apartment living, shared kitchens, people who don’t like to cook.

5. La Brea Bread is you guessed it, bread! La Brea is an expert in gluten-filled breads and pastries, but they’ve branched out into gluten free. Don’t worry about this being a subpar side business- their white Gluten Free bread is as close to wonderbread as I’ve gotten while gluten free. Gluten free comes in multigrain and white sliced loaves. Be sure to toast the multigrain bread for optimal flavor and texture.
Good for: sandwiches, toast, picky eaters.
Contains: eggs
