Holiday Shopping Fun with #DisneyPrincessesWMT #cbias

I try to encourage my children to realize how blessed they are during the Christmas season by choosing to help a needy family.  This year we realized some of our friends would not be able to celebrate the holiday.  It saddened me to think of the kids not receiving presents.  We decided to play “Secret Santa” and leave goodies at their house.  The kids and I planned to sneak to their house and place the presents on the porch.   Because I knew their eight year old was a Disney Princess fan it made my shopping easy! The kids and I headed to Walmart to create the perfect Princess package.  While we were there I asked the kids to help me try the Disney Princess Augmented Reality app.  Walmart had special check points around the store that would bring the app to life.

We were invited to attend the Royal Ball.  How much fun is this? Every princess needs to have her own ball. Of course, to attend a ball we needed an outfit.  Thank goodness we could press the gems on the side of the screen to find the perfect outfit and accessories. We were invited to attend the Royal Ball.  How much fun is this? The app came to life as we scanned certain checkpoints around the store including Cinderella, the Fairy Godmother and the Disney Princess logo unlocking more content and interactive games.

While we were playing with the app we tried to find special gifts.  Knowing how much our recipient loves Cinderella and playing house we thought she would be thrilled to receive a Cinderella Magic Clip Castle and a matching Cinderella Transforming carriage. How can anyone travel to the castle in style without a carriage?

Now that we had presents I wanted to think of a creative way to gift wrap them. I found some Disney Princess paper that was pretty but I wanted to give her something she could reuse. I tried to think. What would be something practical that would also make a good gift wrap? Blankets? Throws? Sheets?  Yes, that’s it! Sheets! I could use the sheets for wrapping and use the pillowcases to hold extra treats for her. You can see our entire shopping trip on our Google + Album.
I couldn’t wait to get home and start wrapping our gifts.  I was excited about seeing the look on her face until I remembered we were doing it anonymously and needed to apply stealth. I will just have to imagine the look!  I’ll be continuing our adventures in a future post showing how we wrapped the gifts and how we sneak them to our friends’ home.

  7. What a wonderful way to give this holiday season! I love that you chose to wrap it in sheets rather than paper. I love choosing gifts that are practical, and I agree with you that I’d much rather buy something that can be reused rather than disposed of.
