How To Make A Simple Thanksgiving Centerpiece

I have partnered with Dollar Tree to show everyone how easy and thrifty chic decor can be.
Thanksgiving is the holiday when I am the hostess with the mostess, preparing a meal for fifteen to twenty family members, along with the occasional friend that drops by.  Because my dining table only seats eight, we’ve divided the seating arrangements, with a kid’s table (which I get stuck at half the time),  an adult table and an informal seating arrangement known as “grab wherever you can find a seat in my living room or family room.”  I try to make a fun centerpiece to add some color to the adult table. I don’t want it to be too large, obscuring the myriad of dishes everyone scatters about, or too high, making me have to crane my short neck to see to the other side.  I’m usually pressed for time, as I cook a large meal and have the house cleaned to “mother in law approved” sparkle. That means I need a simple Thanksgiving centerpiece.  Not only do I want simple, I want budget-friendly.  Hey, feeding fifteen to twenty people a huge Thanksgiving meal is not cheap! I picked up some supplies from the local Dollar Tree and put together this centerpiece for less than $10 dollars.
Simple Fall Centerpiece
I started with a piece of burlap I had used in my daughter’s wedding, but any fall inspired table runner would do as a base.  After placing the burlap in the center of my table, I spread silk leaves around the edges, keeping enough leaves aside to place four in the middle of the piece of burlap.

I placed  a mini pumpkin on the middle of the leaves.  The best part of this centerpiece is parts of it are edible! I filled two plastic juice glasses with candy corn and placed a mini orange LED light on top of the candy corn.

I set the one cup on either side of the mini pumpkin. Voila! A five minute centerpiece! This makes a great centerpiece for a casual meal too. What’s your favorite way to deck out your table for Thanksgiving?
