How to Make Shamrock Pretzel Treats

By now you probably know two things about me; I like sweet treats and I like easy recipes.  These two things can seem to be mutually exclusive, but they’re not. Shamrock Pretzel treats have three to five ingredients, depending on how fancy you want to get (read this as how much time you have and if your child told you they need a treat for some sort of class project or party in the next thirty minutes.) They’re also gluten free if you use gluten free pretzels.

To make the pretzels you’ll need, white chocolate,  green sprinkles or candy melts, mini pretzels and green licorice.  Begin by melting the white chocolate using your preferred method.  I use the microwave method of heating for 45 seconds, stirring, and heating for 45 more seconds until melted.

Dip the pretzels into the white chocolate until coated. Arrange three mini white pretzels onto a piece of waxed paper to form a shamrock.  If using sprinkles, immediately add a few sprinkles to the pretzels.

Spread a small amount of melted white chocolate onto the bottom of a 1 inch piece of licorice and place at the bottom of the shamrock.  Make sure it touches the pretzels so it will harden and stay attached.

Place the chocolate covered pretzels in the freezer for 10 to 15 minutes to harden.  Remove from freezer and drizzle with melted green candy melts, if using.
