How To Make DIY Homemade Air Freshener

I’ve been experimenting with using more natural products around the home. Upon discovering I needed air freshener, but didn’t want to make a trip to the store, I decided to try my hand at making homemade air freshener.  When I realized I could make my own using fresh herbs and essential oils, I went on a spree to find the best air freshener scents. One of my favorites was this easy 3 ingredient Lemon Air Freshener with Thyme.
This is an easy three ingredient DIY homemade Air Freshener. It's budget friendly and can be customized to your favorite scents.

Ingredients:
1/4 cup baking soda
20 drops lemon essential oil
1/4 cup fresh thyme leaves
1 (4 ounce) decorative or Mason jar
1 cupcake liner
fork
Directions:
Use the fork tines to press several holes into the bottom of the cupcake liner. Set aside.  In a medium bowl, add the baking soda and the 20 drops of essential lemon oil.  Adjust the drops to suit your taste, for a stronger air freshener, use more, up to 30 drops, for a less scented version, use 10 to 15 drops.
Add thyme leaves to baking soda mixture and stir until thyme leaves are distributed evenly through out the baking soda.
Place the baking soda mixture into the jar. Top with the cupcake liner and add the can lid.
Tip: To “refresh” the mixture, simply add more drops of essential oil.
Want to make your own all natural products? This 3 ingredient DIY Homemade Air Freshner smells so good and is budget friendly.

I think this is the best air freshener because it’s low cost, uses easily accessible items and can be made in your favorite scents. Think peppermint for Christmas, or lavender for those days when you need to relax.  If you don’t have fresh herbs or an herb garden to grab some, leave them out or used dried ones. I recommend 1 to 2 teaspoons, depending on how strong you’d like it to smell, to replace 1/4 cup fresh herbs.
