I love summer. There’s nothing like wearing strappy sandals, going barefoot, feeling the grass underneath my toes. But summer has a dark downside too; sweaty feet. Or, if you’re like my kids and prefer to wear shoes without socks, smelly shoes. Stinky feet can put a damper on those fun summer evenings with friends. No one wants to be welcomed by the stinky feet smell! Here’s an easy homemade foot odor powder to help conquer the stench. It contains only three common household ingredients and can be made in your choice of fragrance! How’s that for versatile?
Ready to make your own foot powder? Here’s what you need for
DIY Homemade Foot Odor Powder:
Ingredients:
1/2 cup cornstarch
1/2 cup baking soda
20-40 drops of essential oil , in your choice of scent, (depending on how strong a scent you want)
Directions:
Mix together the cornstarch and baking soda until blended. Add essential oil, a few drops at a time, until you reach the scent you would like. Some good essential oil scents are peppermint, lavender or eucalyptus. Lavender is a calming scent and Peppermint is soothing for feet. Stir the essential oil into the powder as you go to make sure it is evenly distributed. Makes one cup foot powder.
Usage: Sprinkle a small amount of powder into shoes or directly onto smelly feet. This powder can be used several times daily.
Tips:
*This recipe can easily be doubled or tripled, if desired.
*I store my foot powder in a glass parmesan cheese shaker I found at a thrift store.
