How to Plan a Woodland Themed Baby Shower

I found myself planning a baby shower by accident. Although my daughter’s bff was “in charge”, the venue was moved to my house because her apartment was to small. Because the baby had been nicknamed “critter” when we didn’t know she was a girl, we decided to go with a Woodland Theme.  Here’s our easy ideas for a Woodland Themed Baby Shower.

1. I built the shower around the Fox Festive Perfect Party Package from Minted.  Guests were greeted at the door with signs announcing “Welcome Baby Jenna” and “It’s a Girl!” I hung a “Welcome Jenna” banner above the buffet and taped table confetti on the wall around the banner.  The decorations were peach and pink so I used a thrifted pink tablecloth and a thrifted white table runner for linens.

2. The shower was planned for noon which meant we needed a meal.  To make the preparation quick and easy, we planned a “Build your own sandwich bar” with two kinds of meat and cheeses, french bread, and assorted veggies.  We also included a “DIY Trail Mix Bar”, perfect for picky kids,  a veggie tray,  Baby Rattle Cupcakes and pink baby shower punch. I added treat bags to the table so people could make and take trail mix, if desired and added cute Fox Festive stickers to the trail mix ingredient jars.

3.  Decorations were easy. On the table I made a centerpiece from an apothecary jar from Minted filled with fresh rosemary from my garden and a cute white bunny a found at the local thrift store. I surrounded the jar with two more thrifted animals. On the sidebar I added Woodland creatures I had found on sale over the past year.   To keep from distracting from the Woodland Creature focus, I used white plates, clear jars and a white cupcake stand as serve ware.

4.  No party is complete without games, but I was instructed “not to play any of the usual games”, including anything that involved guessing size and weight.  Instead, I filled a jar with candy hearts and had a guessing contest. The winner received the jar of goodies. We also played “The Price Is Right.” I purchased several baby items, including a package of diapers, a set of pacifiers, a box of wipes, baby toys, etc, and had people guess what they thought was the correct price. We finished with a game of guessing the date the baby would be born, along with the weight and length. We teased that the prize would be “a free afternoon of babysitting,” but it was well received and everyone asked if they could really babysit when she was born. Go figure.
