Make a Back To School Survival Kit Gift Basket

Back To School Survival Gift Basket

As a mom and a teacher, I’ve had plenty of experience with back to school.  Back to School Time can be stressful for everyone; kids, teachers and parents.  I’ve found a way to help get kids back in the routine with a back to school survival kit.  You can make one for your kids and make one for the teacher too. I guarantee you she will thank you for it!  Start by finding a container that would be good for back to school. I found a storage basket on clearance and snapped it up. It makes a good work station to hold all the supplies students need to have on hand at home to help with homework.  Add basic school supplies that kids or teachers will need.  Remember, everyone can use hand sanitizer, personal sized packages of tissues and basic school supplies. I included pencils, erasers, glue sticks and colored pencils for projects. Depending on their age, you can add other things like pens, index cards, a calculator and other supplies related to grade level.  I like to add in flash drives and cds.

Now comes the fun part, adding some goodies to the mix.  Add some treats, like a favorite candy bar or healthy snack, and some small surprises. My kids are always on the lookout for gift cards. This is especially good if you have a college student who needs to pick up some last minute dorm supplies.  To fix the basket, add some crumpled newspaper to the bottom of the basket so the treats will stand out.

When you’ve finished with the basket, be sure to pick up a bottle of Excedrin for those last minute back to school headaches and believe me, if you have a student going away to college, there will be plenty of headaches.

Do you have any additions you would include in a back to school survival kit?
