With the hustle and bustle of the holidays upon us, it is easy to become stressed. We often forget, with all the activities going on, to take some time to spend with our family. That’s why I like to plan a family movie night a couple of times during December. These don’t have to be elaborate evenings, just a fun time to watch a movie and enjoy a snack. When I learned Dolphin Tale 2 would be arriving on Blu-Ray and DVD December 9th, I planned a simple snack the kids could make for our screening.
“Dolphin Tale 2” continues the true story of the brave dolphin Winter, whose miraculous rescue and recovery—thanks to a groundbreaking prosthetic tail—made her a symbol of hope and perseverance to people around the world and inspired the 2011 family hit movie “Dolphin Tale.”
The dolphin tail snacks take only three ingredients (unless you include water, then it makes it four) and are ready in a couple of hours if you use the speed set method on the gelatin package. Be sure to allow the gelatin to “sit” for 30 minutes before adding the gummy fish or they will either sink to the bottom or turn on their side; neither are optimal.
- 1 package (1.8 ounce) blue gelatin
- 1./2 cup marshmallow cream
- 16 gummy fish
- 4 small clear plastic cups
- Mix the gelatin according to package instructions for the speed set method. Divide the gelatin equally between four plastic cups. Allow gelatin to set for 30 minutes. Remove gelatin from fridge and, using a spoon, push three fish into the gelatin. Allow to set 30 more minutes. Add a tablespoon of marshmallow creme to the top of each cup and shape to resemble a way. Place one fish on top of each scoop of marshmallow cream. Serve immediately or keep in fridge.
Those snacks are such a cute idea for a movie night! We loved the first “Dolphin Tale.” I bet this one is great too!
We’re doing “movie night” as a recurring theme in our house each week, and this would be SO cute!
This movie is on my list to see. I love Harry Connick, Jr.!

I loved this movie so much. Kiddo and I went to see it in the theaters. If you follow on the Facebook for the rehabilitation center they give updates on the dolphins and such the movie was based on.
