Snickers Vase

Sometimes the best laid plans go awry. For the past three weeks my life seemed to be spinning off in a tangent. Instead of writing my own series of unfortunate events, I decided to make a pay it forward gesture. There’s nothing like giving someone a fun gift to raise my spirits. I thought about baking some goodies, but after looking through my dessert recipes and chocolate recipes, I decided to do something different, something unexpected. After all, I could make baked goods for my family whenever I wanted too. While browsing at Sam’s Club, I saw chocolate candy bars. “It’s almost football season,” I thought, “why not make a gift they can use when tailgating?”Chocolate4thewin

I picked up a box of SNICKERS® Candy Bars and a package of assorted MARS chocolate and got to work. I had planned to make a Football Vase filled with chocolate, but couldn’t find the vase. Instead I went with a reusable insulated cup to keep coffee, tea, or hot chocolate warm on those brisk fall days. Inside the mug I added some floral foam to the base for stability and a stuffed in a piece of green tissue paper.   I purchased ten plastic balloon holders  to use as sticks and used three to attach a full sized  SNICKERS® bar onto each one with tape.  I am sure wooden skewers would be okay to use if that is what you have available.  Onto the other seven balloon holders I taped a fun sized MARS Candy bar.  I used a variety of Twix, M&M’s and Snickers on mine.

After I finished taping the candy bars into place, I cut an inch off the ends of three of the sample sized bars to make the sticks varying height.  I pushed the sticks through the tissue paper and into the foam at different heights and angles.  When I had the candy arranged to my satisfaction, I added stickers of footballs to the container and a special card.  Not only did making the gift brighten my day, it was a hit with my friend too!  After all, who can go wrong with chocolate?
