How to Make an Easter Tablescape and Easter centerpiece for Kids

easter place setting too
I am a World Market ambassador. All opinions are my own.

Each year I browse through pages and pages of Easter tablescapes and sigh wistfully.   I envision a table laden with antique dishes and dressed in fine linens.  Then, I look around my house, realize I have kids and pets, and receive a firm dose of reality.  This year, I decided my Easter tablescape didn’t have to be boring. I found a set of cute mismatched at World Market and an idea was born. I could have a lovely, kid friendly tablescape.  I snatched up the plates, along with a set of matching egg holders.  I had the basics for my project but had to sit down and think of the direction I wanted to go.

I debated between a white tablecloth or a printed one because both had their drawbacks.  The plates seemed to fade into the background on both settings, not allowing them to have the focal point they deserved.  I solved the problem by using the white tablecloth with colored paper flowers placed under the plates, with a cute printed bedsheet for a table runner. I knew the kids would not eat plain boiled eggs, so instead I added a small amount of purple Easter grass and a mini Lindt chocolate bunny.  Cute bunny napkin holders completed each setting.
Bunny Centerpiece

I needed centerpieces to match with my kid friendly theme.  I found some jonquils and daffodils  growing in my in-law’s field and decided they looked like spring.  I arranged the flowers in a stemless wine glass and placed a bunny around the glass. He looks like he is peeking out of the flowers at the Peeps I added to wine glasses. I did have to use some clear tape to hold him in place.  I made smaller candy flower vases for either side of the bunny.  I started with a small flowerpot and a piece of floral foam.  I topped the foam with Easter grass and purple confetti. Using Easter Tootsie Pops, I slid a spring themed mini cupcake liner around the base of each and taped it into place. I arranged five pops into each mini flower vase for an edible centerpiece.  The kids did know not to touch these until brunch was over!

Of course, no good brunch would be complete without food. We made Honey Cupcakes that received rave reviews. I served them on a pedestal that matched one of the plates for the perfect finishing touch.   For the family members with Celiac I served Gluten free scones with lemon curd, while the rest of us dined on carrot spice scones.  Add in a few extras, like a breakfast casserole and we had a menu sure to please the entire family.

We had a wonderful brunch with no table worries. The cat did have a few ideas for knocking the flower vase over but he was sent to time out before much damage was done. My Easter entertaining was made simple this year, while still setting a beautiful table.
